How do you get paid?

Just curious as to whether the majority of school nurses are salaried or hourly. & what the average hourly pay rate or salary is for rural schools. I'm honestly just curious to see if what I make is average because I'm hourly and I took a HUGE paycut to work at the school.

Badly.

Badly.

Sums it up.

Every now and then I consider some other job that pays the same and wouldn't result in my name being thrown around facebook when I fail to satisfy a snowflake. You know, like overnights at the gas station with a good book.

I have seen this in my town where I live (I work in a different district) and I cannot get over how awful and unprofessional it is. A few months ago some mother bashed one of our elementary school nurses and accused her of mismanaging her kid's T1D- all over Facebook. It ended up backfiring because that school nurse has a great track record and thankfully many parents came to her defense. But seriously if I were her I would be tempted to sue for slander. I mean some of the things she said were outrageous!

I took a large paycut to come to the school division I work at. I started in 2004 at about 38,000 yearly, and I am currently making about 52,500. I am salaried, and my hours are from 7:10-2:30. We have a 10 or 12 month check option, and I definitely take the 12. I am not disciplined enough to take the 10 month option, so my pay is spread out over 12.

We get 20 checks plus one big one...

WOW....feeling really under appreciated here! LOL LVN in rural Texas. 6th year here, 19,500 a year.

No one has made a lovely heartwarming post about how we're paid in the smiles of small children and warm thanks of parents.

So that's a fun bonus when they do happen

Specializes in 8 years as a school nurse.

I'm part-time, Paid hourly. My district covers 2 school in the county with about 300 kids total (rural schools). I started at half my hourly hospital wage, but have moved up a bit since then. It's around $15-16k/yr now for part-time. My schedule is soooo flexible and for me it's totally worth the pay cut. If I'm busy I can work extra days, if my kids are sick, I can stay home no problem. I can pick up and drop off my own kids as well. How many Christmases did I miss in my 10 years working at the hospital? Too many! Not anymore, kids don't stay little forever! I'm realizing that now that I have a teenager!!
