I'm just currious to see how far some of you have to drive to nursing school. If I get into the program where I am applying I will have to drive over an hour. Do you think that is too far?
I live about an hour and 5 minutes away. I also commute 45 minutes to work so I am used to it. I used to hate it but now I really don't even think about it. The only thing that sucks is that there are so many things that can make me late--road construction, trees in the road on my dirt road (has happened twice), slow drivers on a long hilly/curvy drive that is too dangerous to pass on.
I drove 3 hours to school (one way) to attend an RN bridge program. I lived in Fort Worth, Texas, and attended school in Oklahoma City. The distance was 225 miles one way.I'm just currious to see how far some of you have to drive to nursing school. If I get into the program where I am applying I will have to drive over an hour. I drove 90 minutes (one way) to attend an LVN/LPN program. The distance from my home to the school was 95 miles one way. This was 5 days per week for one year. Since I have done a lot of commuting, my screen name reflects it.
I drive 45min. w/out a lot of stop and go traffic. I only have to commute twice a week. I honestly love the me time I get while in the car. I play my pod casts (I love This American Life and Radio Lab) and play the music I want to listen too. Also, you could record lecture and play it back in your car! I say go for it and think of it as getting in some "me" time. :)
Wow! How did you deal with that? Did you have kids at the time? That's my issue - I have two kids and I am not sure I want to do the commuting. But I also don't wanna be poor my whole life. I got into a Radiology and Nursing program at the same school. The drive will be 2.5 hours one way.

I am incredibly fortunate! I live within 1 mile of my community college. I thank my lucky stars everyday that we chose this house so many years ago!
