How far do you drive to nursing school?

Published

I'm just currious to see how far some of you have to drive to nursing school. If I get into the program where I am applying I will have to drive over an hour. Do you think that is too far?

My nursing school is in the same town, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to get to school.. Its almost right around the corner from me!...but I leave 30 mins prior to class starting because parking is crazy..

I know plenty of people who have to drive an hour or more who are in my class. When they tell me what time they woke up to get to school, I am like WOAH... cause I was still sleeping:mad:. So, I am very grateful for my super short commute. Theres one girl that I talk to frequently and she was saying how she was exhausted and had to drive all the way home which was over an hour away, and I really wanted to tell her to come to my house, and take a nap before she drove home!.... lol.

Just make sure to bring some caffeine with you for the long ride ;).. Its certainly not too far when nursing school is something you want.. I would still drive out to my nursing school if it was an hour away.

Good luck!:redbeathe

It takes me 45 minutes to drive to my nursing school. As far as driving distance, it can be so hard to get into a nursing program, I'd just be grateful while I'm driving that long drive. I have a classmate whose one-way commute to school is ~ an hour and a half. She records lecture and then re-listens to it on the way home. Very smart.

That is smart!

I don't drive to nursing school....I live on campus :D

I drive an hour to school, but depending on the time of day I have to leave early or there will be no parking

45-1 hour depending on traffic

Mine was 90 minutes each way but I allowed 2 hours for traffic snaffus. Actually I enjoyed the quiet time in the car with just the radio playing, it was about the only "me time" I had between nursing school and working also. Good luck.

I leave my house at 6am to arrive at my school by 8am. Sometimes I make it there early, sometimes I barely make it there on time! My school is 4-5 days a week.

The drive home is a little shorter because there is less afternoon traffic.

IMO, it is worth the drive, I try to look at it as time to myself. I listen to music, or CDs that I check out from my school that are educational to get some reinforcement in of the subject we are studying.

I live 54 miles from school. It usually takes about an hour to get to school, depending on traffic and construction, so I usually leave about an hour and 15 minutes before class to be on the safe side. On clinical days I commute with a couple of friends. That really helps with the gas bills!

I live about 90 miles away from school. It takes me about an 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get to school. I have classes 4 days a week. Fortunately I am able to stay with a friend of mine from class. The drive sucks but totally worth going to this school. Its better than sitting on the waiting list for 2 years or more!
