How far do you commute to school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

There isn't any recent threads on the topic, so I thought I would start a new one. I will be moving and the nursing school I want to go to is 2hrs and 45 mins away. I looked at other nursing schools close by and each and every one is different for pre req reqirements. Just wanted to see how many others commute is this long. How do you pass the time when driving?

Right now I live 3 miles from my local college, about a 7 minute drive going the speed limit.

When I transfer I'll be looking at a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic.

My drive is 45 minutes. There aren't any closer schools to me.

There are quite a few students in my class who drive 1.5-2 hours one-way everyday.

I live about 54 miles from school. This gives me a chance to decompress before and after school:-)

I live 30 miles away from school, but with traffic it takes about an hour and a half each way.

My commute is about 45 minutes one way. I'm either on the phone or listening to radio during the commute.

Takes abt 20 minutes to the school's parking lot and another 5-10 mins on the shuttle to the main campus...

My commute is 45 minutes depending on traffic and sometimes an extra 15 minutes to find a (legal) place to park.

I am on the road for about 1.5 hrs going and coming I put about 200 miles a week with class and clinical sites , it is a shame that I do not have public transportation in this area because I would be all on that so much but it is one of those sacrafices that we have to make when we decide to continue in this field.

I feel very spoiled after reading this thread. I have about a 10-15 minute drive to classes, although clinical sites may be farther away during certain semesters. Mad props to everyone who wants it enough to drive like that!

During longer drives, I blast my country music, and Carrie Underwood and I give a concert to anyone driving in the greater Washington-Baltimore area. :) If I were doing 1+ hours each way very often, I would also get books on tape and listen to them. I'm guessing that between nursing school and that kind of commute, pleasure reading would become a thing of the past.

Taking pre-reqs now in the state neighboring mine and it's a/b a 35min drive (25 mi) there and back..my classes are in the late evening so traffic is lite; I just past the time with loud music and road rage lol.

I live in PA, but I'll be moving in the Fall to MD to start my ABSN program.

I commute about an hour and half each way every day of the week. It really isn't all that bad. I just turn on my radio and relax during my drive. Well..until I hit traffic :bored:

I commute 75 minutes each way, 6 days a week. I'm in school and/or clinical 4 days a week and working in a hospital 2 days a week. It's almost 1,000 miles a week on my car! When I graduate, the commute will likely stay the same (I live in the boonies), but 3 days a week instead of 6! Then again maybe I'll get a PRN job too & work more while I'm waiting to go to CRNA school :)
