How are your clinicals graded?

I start class tomorrow and am extremely nervous. I was looking over some of the papers I received at orientation and noticed that my clinicals are graded Pass/Fail. Is that common?

yes, my school grades clinicals pass/fail as well.

Pass/fail. You must be "checked off" on different competencies to pass.

ours were pass/fail too.

the decision was made up of: punctuality, uniform, competencies completed, bedside presence, care planning, assessment skills and medication knowledge.

ours are the same way satisfactory or unsatisfactory. we have to get a pass on everything or were out.

I wish mine was pass/fail....I definitely think it should be. We get graded based off of this clinical evaluation tool that is about 6 pages long with a list of competencies. We have to incorporate these competencies into our weekly journal to show how we met them...very silly.

Do you get timed on procedures during clinicals? I know someone who failed Adult Health 1 because she wasn't able to start an IV line under the given time limit.

We are graded on pass/fail for clinical as well.

For the actual clinical experience it's pretty much Pass/Fail, but we do get a grade for the paperwork. We usually have about 5-6 pages of paperwork to turn in for every day of clinical so that gets graded and we get a grade for it...although all of them averaged together at the end of the semester is only worth about 5% of our total grade so it's not much for the amount of work that goes into it.

We are graded past/fail, but, we have weekly paperwork (care worksheets, reflections) and a weekly eval based upon 60 points. We have to have 80% at the end of each clinical rotation in order to move on.:typing

yes that's standard. just show up, have a good attitude, and you'll pass no problem

so no one else gets 'tested' like at my friend does during clinical?
