  1. Hi all! I have the 4th Edition Saunders book and the HESI NCLEX-RN review books. Which do you think would be the best to utilize or do they both offer good studying opportunities? I just graduated 5/16 and plan on taking my boards in July. Thanks so much!
  2. As I am in the evening/weekend ADN program the chances that I get to hang IVPB can be far and few depending on my patient. I always have to review w/ the instructor/classmates and seem to fumble through. My mom (retired CCU RN of over 40 years) told me not to beat myself up about it. If I was doing it everyday it would go like clock-work. I think as one of the other folks replied that the more you do it the easier it gets! Just hang in there...
  3. We are graded past/fail, but, we have weekly paperwork (care worksheets, reflections) and a weekly eval based upon 60 points. We have to have 80% at the end of each clinical rotation in order to move on.:typing
  4. I work full-time (40+ hours per week) and attend class in the evening with my clinicals being on the weekends (both Saturday and Sunday) plus I am 49 years old. If I can do it, anyone can do it! You just have to be organized and have a good support system. Good luck!
  5. As students, we have been told NOT to use alcohol to clean the finger of choice as alcohol can give a false (+) reading.
  6. Hi, My husband and I are looking into this. Can you tell us where you purchased it and what sort of regimen you are using? Thanks!
  7. Hi, Don't feel like you are too old! I am 48 and in my first semester of an ADN program. There are a few of us in the class that are in there 30s and 40s and of course we have the young'uns (20s). I agree, that age is just a number...think of the "life" experiences you will be bringing to your education. Hang in there and don't give up!
  8. I too am starting nursing school on Aug. 21st and scared to death of the clinical aspects. The book learning doesn't bother me, at 48 I have learned to work and study... I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one whose stomach is doing flip flops!
  9. Hi, I just found the website so am new. I am 48 and started taking pre-reqs when I was 43. A class a semester...well long story short I enter the ADN program next month. It is an evening/wkend program and I will still be working my full time 40+ job as a clinical research coordinator. I am married and am the mom to a very rambunctious 4 year pembroke welsh corgi named Annie. I am stressed because I think I will be the oldest one in my class!
