How are your classes going??

hey Cardiotrans, glad to hear you are doing well. My experience is much the same.....tons of reading....my class this semester is Pharmacology, and although our instructor really knows his stuff the class is hard!!!! I am working on my 2nd big paper now - case studies that are done in conjunction with 3 other students. they email me theirs and I format it all and put it together.

My biggest problem, though, is an employer who initially promised to be supportive but now is "all but". They are making it really hard for me with a totally hellish schedule. I'm not young anymore (almost 46) so I dont deal as well with sleep deprivation as I once did (if I ever did)

I'm with you, though....7 more semesters of this, but it will ALL be worth it. I am looking forward to being able to have a better schedule - among other things.

I haven't been on here in a while due to my coursework. I have nursing theory and pathophysiology this semester and for each course I have about 4-5 chapters of reading per week. On top of that, I have 2 case studies, a midterm, 2 finals, an oral presentation, and a 10 page paper.

I expected the work, but the reading is a killer! Every spare minute I have that's what I'm doing! Let me just say, in my household, spare minutes are hard to come by!

Glad to know that Im not alone when I have my nose in a book!!! 4 chapters for this weeks assignment. So when I get sleepy as I read, I will think of you both and know you are right there with me!!!!!

I am in my second semester. I have Advanced Patho and Healthcare Policy, law and ethics currently. I had a really hard time in the first two weeks getting motivated to actually do any work. It all caught up with me last weekend when I had to write 2 case studies, post a couple of discussion links, write a paper on ethical theories that make no sense at all (Kant's categorical imperative?), and do a patho test on cellular biology :Crash:

I should be doing reading right now. Is anyone else having a hard time staying motivated?

I too have a hard time staying motivated. I also started a new job this week, and have been in classroom orientation this week, so I stay quite sleepy!

I find myself wanting to watch one of my favorite tv shows at night instead of reading, or reading this site instead of the book. :chuckle

I am having a really hard time keeping myself motivated. it is not a question of "is this really what I want"....no doubts there. I think that it is just an end result of all I have going on in my life besides school.

Work is absolutely sucking the life out of me because of the hellish schedule I have been given- and that is one of my biggest problems. I really don't want to jump ship but if backed into a corner I may have no choice. I am looking at maybe trying to go prn, do some agency work, etc. but I am so disappointed in the way that this situation has worked out I have trouble getting motivated to make a change.

The only thing motivating me right now is that for me, I will be finished at the end of December and man....am I going to celebrate. It is so hard to stay focused. Tonight I had the most hellish clinical that I've ever had and I cried all the way home. I felt so stupid with my instructor, she was asking me things like generations of drugs and schedules of drugs and I just froze, then when it came to hanging Piggybacks I was just so unorganized, I'm supposed to team lead next week and I'm scared to death, I could hardly handle my two patients tonight and she wants me to team lead. I just told myself on the way home to focus and just think positive, then I thought of my kids and thought I have to do it for them, because I've had my nose in the books too long and they have felt the brunt of it all, so the sooner I get done the better. I'll just try to keep smiling and focus, but If any of you have ideas on time management and team leading just send them my way, because I will be needing them. Talk to you all soon. and this is what i'm doing right now, having a beer!! :beercuphe

I just finished my FIRST graduate level paper....a theory application paper. Fortunately I have an aunt who is a nursing prof and she is proofing it right now. I 'll turn it in tonight via the net.

Had major study delays this week as I took care of my family and myself in the wake of THE most horrendous GI bug I've ever seen...truly. Never once in all my years of being sick have I ever considered going to the ER , but I was *this* close with Dh and with DD. All is not lost though...we are studying hypo and hypernatremia, volume loss d/t GI loss...so I had practical applications, LOL!

This is my second semester of my Management and Leadership program. I'm taking research and theory.

I'm getting used to the time committment for reading, and also to group work. I"m more of an individual worker, but it's good for me to learn to work in a group, right? :)

I"m enjoying it very much, although it is a lot more reading than I"m used to, and I read a lot!

I'm in my first semester... my classes are "easy" (just theory) but I am still struggling to even care. I have been in school almost non-stop for 4 years now. So, I'm getting a little tired of it..even though I was excited to be going into the PNP program, it was very short lived. AHHHH!!

i am glad i am not alone i am taking pharmacology right now and it is a killer...i am so confused and we just had our midterm and now i am getting geared to do well on the final since the midterm didn't go well. anyways, i am finding it really challenging to work 40+hrs a week as a manager at a LTC facility(new job by the way so I am confused there too) and go to school how does everyone find time for everything else???

Just wanted to see how everyone was doing as the semester comes to an end. Our semester is over Dec 5.

We have completed all of our assignments that have to be turned in, one being a major paper that was due this past Tues with a powerpoint. We have to meet in the "chatroom" to discuss ethics, but other than that we are done.

Next semester I will be taking Advanced Pharm and Statistics.
