How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

And just to double check, the scrubs are teal right? Not like an aqua-teal? More green? :p Thankssss!

The scrubs are teal. I'm not sure about the exact color name. You can go to the bookstore and they have them to see. :)

i have kept reading the thread for awhile now! i am so excited to start, it just 4 weeks we are officially nursing students. anywho, i still have not bought my books. i am not sure if i should wait for class to start or buy them now??? i am also a little confused on the list they gave us vs. the list the nova bookstore has. can those of you that have purchased the book take a picture of the cover and post it or post the edition you bought??? if you dont mind :D. jerziana and me are going scrub shopping this weekend most likely! i know the uniforms are teal but some brands have them named as aquamarine or turquoise. i am also looking forward to buying my shoes and supplies within the next four weeks before i quit my job :uhoh3:

we should all definately plan a lunch date, maybe chilis or something??? maybe starbucks????

looking forward to meeting all you nurse sharks!

i will send my application to nova next week hopefully; however, i noticed that you said you would be quitting your job. are you scared about that. i work full time and if i get accepted i would have to quit my job also.

yes, i am!!! i am very comfortable with my current job and i looooveee it! i currently work full time doing accounting. i do not have an accounting degree (i just turned 20) my sister use to have my position and when she left the ceo of the company asked me if i wanted to replace her, i took her job :D. i had initially thought of keeping my job and asking my boss if i can open my department on saturday just for myself and only work 8 hrs but i think that nova will be very difficult and feel that i will not be able to keep my grades. i am still negotiating on wheather to leave or not....i havent told my boss yet! i will be telling him in the next week and a half.

i am worried because i have been paying for all my expenses since i was 15 yrs. i have always been independent but, i still live at home with my dad and i know he can help with some expenses up to a certain point. the rest of my expenses will be going into loans!!! i hate the thought of it since i have never had a loan since bright futures paid for my pre reqs. unfortunately, nova is very expensive and more than half the student will most likely be taking out loans. i do admit that i am really worried but i really want to be a nurse and have no other choice school goes first!

Nicole14- I got the human phisiology , the 11th edition by stuart ira fox.

Zdream- i will try and take pic of the book for you tom, hopefully i can manage to figure out how to upload it up on here. =)

oh and which ever place you guys pick to meet up is fine with me, although chilis does sound yummy! cant wait to meet all of you!

Hey everyone, ive been following this forum for the last few months. I applied for the January 2011 term at NOVA. as of Wednesday, I am currently "under review" according to my VIP page. I wonder how long that is going to take. Any ideas?

@ zdream624 - i'm trying to post the pictures for you, but it won't let me. i do have them all set up in a word document if you send me your email, i'll forward it to you :) also, let me know asap about your scrub search, i want to get them before school starts, so i can start wearing them the first day of classes! chili's sounds awesome!! lol

@nurse2b23 - did you see the bookstores list for us? there are 2 totally separate books for a&p. what should we do??

Also, is anyone bringing guests to our orientation? I was thinking about bringing my Father and Boyfriend bacause they both want to be involved. I wanted to know if I was going to be the only one :/ haha :clown:

nicole14-yeah i noticed that too,when i called nova about this issue, they said to get the newest edition. So when i went to the nova book store the lady looked at both of the lists and told me to buy the Human Physiology, eleventh edition, by stuart ira fox which is newest edition. And nicole14, im bringing my mom, so you wont be alone with bringing guests . :) if anyone can tell me how to upload a picture of it up here i will. or i can send you a pic of it in an email. :)

Junior89- I submitted my application to nova in the begining of march, and got a response at the end of april. Best of luck to you!
