How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

Hey guys I will be going to the Fort Myers campus also in the Fall. I am practically done with almost everything. I'm going to wait to buy my scrubs and lab coats until orientation. I also bought most books for the first semester but some I was confused about so I will wait until orientation to ask. I'm moving over there from Miami but I already found an apartment close to the school. So I'm excited!!

Sorry I've been awol...busy, busy, busy lol.....Well before I answer all you guys questions, I wanna let you guys know if you are already registered for classes, you can go on the nsu bookstore website and and enter each of your classes info, where it says get ur texbook. It has 4 things that it needs you to put from dept to clas # and once you add all you classes, you can submit it and it will bring up all the books that the classes requires and also make recommendations for whatever like a flashdrive. As for uniform, My friend whos in the nursing program recommends me to buy the top from the schools uniform website, where they can make the embroidery the way its supposed to be done. For the bottoms I recommend going the school bookstore and take a picture and information about what color it is and go somewhere else to try out the pants before you buy them because that is mostly where people have problems. I dont recommend waiting till orientation for uniforms because if you buy it from the school it will takes at least two weeks because they also have other programs that they amke orders for, so it might take time. You should at least order the top, then you can look around for a matching bottom... Since it so close to the beginning of school things might be backed up.

Hello!

I have already ordered my books through the bookstore website. My books are currently on hold but they said it was a first come first serve basis on receiving them. The earlier you order them the better. I looked at other websites to see if I can get the books cheaper, but some of them were even more expensive on sites I usually find affordable. Therefore, I just went ahead and ordered them through the bookstore. Better to be safe then sorry. I figured come next semester we will know the tricks around this system and how to get the best deals but for now I would like to be safe. I need information about the uniforms. Where can we order them? Please, if anyone has information on that let me know.

Hello!! I am so excited for everyone who was accepted to Nova this Fall!!!!:yeah:

I plan to apply for Spring 2012 at the Kendall campus but i am sooo Nervous!!! I can't even sleep! Literally. Can anyone tell me what gpa nova looks at? Is it your pre requisites, science, or cumulative gpa? As of now i have a 3.47 cum gpa from fiu and a 3.2 science gpa. I haven't calculated my pre requisite gpa. Can anyone tell me what gpa they had when they got accepted?? I need a little motivation. :( ...a little bit a least.

Hi guys... i have another question? For the letters of recommendation, is it required that the recommendations be only from academic instructors, professors, advisors? i feel as though during my 2 years at fiu, taking class lectures with about 100 students... i didn't really get to know any teachers or made an impression on any where i could go back and ask them for a recommendation...

what do you guys think i should do? any advice.

Hey you guys!! Sorry I have taken time to resply but it has been crazy at work. Ok..Jamnurse: Financial Aide and Loans are covering my tuition. As far as the books, I bought them from barnes and noble online/half.com, I bought some and I rented some. Since I am registered for the Kendall campus, I looked up the booklist in the nova bookstore website, entered the course section and it gives you your booklist. As far as uniforms: the website to order uniforms is: http://www.nsuuniformstore.com and the website to order labcoats is: https://www.webmedbooks.com/nova/default2.aspx . For the labcoats, I went to the Nova Bookstore in Fort Lauderdale, I took a look at the uniforms and color and I tried on the labcoats. Once you know your size, you can order them online. The labcoat can only be ordered online. I ordered my labcoat already, about two weeks ago and I am still waiting for it to arrive. For the uniforms, what I did was order one top from school and order the rest of the tops from another store, just matching the one from school. The bottoms I bought at another store. Its called Uniform Advantage by South Miami Hospital on US1. They give you 10% off for being a student and they have fall sales. I just ordered my books today and I should have them by next week. So anyone that is going to Kendall, I have class on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday, and Friday. I am registered for section E6 for Anatomy and Intro to Nursing class and the Math class section E5. Let me know who has the same schedule. Good luck to all the students that are accepted and to those who plan to apply. When I check on my WebStar, I get the same schedule like yours but on last monday I got email from Kristina Santana (support coordinator) with a different schedule. I don't know which one is the right one. Did you get her email? Can you send me the book list? How much you pay for them? Thank you for your information. Hope we are the same class. Have a good day.

i also have the same schedule that you guys have. as far as i know they changed the schedule yesterday for the one we have in the sharklink page. is look like we all have the same schedule. hanguyen the book list is the sharlink page. once you are in ther, 1- go to student 2- on the right corner clik on ''click here to see your courses'' 3- under academic quicklinks clik on ''order textbook online. 4-select the term 5- click the button that says online book order. and will take you to the bookstore page with the list of the books. may21 thanks for provide the link to order the labcoat, i'll probably go this week to main campus to try them to see the sizes. i ordered the books part in amazon a the other part in half.com. with the uniform i ordered the top from the school's website and the bottoms i bought at a local store. hope this help and please keep sharing any information that might be important. :) see you soon at kendall campus

Hey you guys. Yes I realized the schedules were changed yesterday because in July, my schedule was only Tuesday,Wednesday and Friday. Now I have a class from 9:00 am to 12 noon on Monday and Friday. And an anatomy class on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-4pm. And on Wednesday another class in the morning. The books cost me a total of about 250.00 total 8 books. See you all inn orientation.
