How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

Hey Jerziana can you please tell where you went to get your scrubs? Im trying to go the cheap route wherever I can.

hey, my advice to u is to wait.... until they give you all the info, for the first semester i bought all the books and ended up returning 4. i just went to the bookstore and now they have this program where u can rent your books and you save 50% :D , scrubs just get them somewhere else the bookstore takes for everrrrrrrrr to give them to you, but they give u like a month to go on regular cloth (no jeans), tuition 6000, insurance i have my own but its like 1200.... :)

Mayteb, how helpful are the professors. Do they take the time to explain or are the uninterested in our progress. I don't want to be babies but I would like some nuturing. This will be very intimidating at first for us all, so we are going to need that extra something.Thanks for answering my questions.

HEY, THEY DO... WE HAVE GREATTTTTT PROFESSORS.

They are not always on top of you, but if u dont pass one of their exam u have to go to you advisor (mandatory) and they tell you what to do.... I think they are FAIR, not sweet not sour (LOL) :p if you go to Ft Lauderdale you will have Dr ***** for Anatomy and physiology (OMG) sheeeeeee is sooo smart that she doesnt need a book or anything to explain what the heck its going on !!!! I:redbeatheher!!!

then we have some others that are OK... :D for example if you have 74.9 and the passing grade is 75 :( sorry but u wont make it! Just keep in mind that you have to be positive and we all can do it :D

Thanks Mayte for the info yeah i will have professor ***** and ****** i think is the other one... We all have to take anatomy at Davie no matter if we are accepted into the Kendall campus. I just got my syllabus and an email from the professors letting us know that we need our books by certain dates and what they are, so i already ordered them... L***** emailed me that we need the book asap since we will be starting lecture asap and she gave us the ISBN numbers... i am not sure if that how they did it before or if they changed it...

Futurenutrire, I got my scrubs at the UA store by South Miami Hospital, you can look up other UA stores and give them the numbers that are on back of the Nova uniforms you can retrieve them online and make sure its Real teal and they can do the engraving as well... You also get a 10% discount for being a nova student, just give them your Nova email address. I def got it cheaper i ordered one from Nova to see how the stitching was and then took it to the UA store. So I would go from there...

Also, the tuition is 20 grand a year so its 40 grand in total but thats not inlcuding your lab fees which is not part of your classes... its separate. so i added a grand to that to see where i would be and it came out to 41 grand for the whole 27 months. Sorry for the confusion and the insurance is 750 a semester but i would go private and get your own thats what me and my friends are doing... You can go to AvMed and they can give a great price all you have to do is show them at orientation your insurance card and they will shave it off your tuition.. so remember that your tuition is based off of labs, then theres a nursing services fee, dont know where that came from and then you have immunization fee but if you did your immunization you bring in your paperwork and they will take off whatever you have done, then if you are missing you have until a certain time frame to complete. Or you can do it at Nova since its already included in your tuition. I know its a lot of info lol but hey it Nova and you have to be on top of your stuff at all times....

Stephanie, I took the CHEM1033 the health science one i passed with a B and the i failed a long time ago was CHEM1046 which is for med school or biology majors at the time i wanted to be a pharmacist but then changed, so you are required to take the health science chemistry no matter what, even if you took a general chem class, its online the courses that are required. You have a great gpa so keep it up! But if you havent taken the health science gpa then you need to take it... :idea: I hate chem too..... HATED IT i passed by the grace of God because i was always mad in the class because i hated it so much lol thank god for friends lol ... anything else just let me know! or you can pm me if you like as well. @mayteb: They really don't allow jeans?!! My scrubs still hasn't come in and I ordered it about 4 weeks ago! I barely have any business clothes grrrrrr. Thank you so much for the advices! Although, its making me quite nervous haha

I got my lap coats yesterday and was wondering if anyone knows if the script/font on the coats is going to be the same for the scrubs? Is it on the left side as well?

Hey all! Just wanted to give a heads up to those of you who haven't checked your webCT. Our A&P Professor wrote to us saying that we'll need to purchase the Netter's Atlas to Human Anatomy. She said we could purchase either edition 4, which is the old one, or the new one edition 5! The only difference is that edition 5 brings an interactive CD which she says is really good to use.

She'll be giving us handouts that coincide with edition 5, but will be providing (its actually already provided online) the conversion as to what it would be on edition 4; the pages where things would be located. SUPER HELPFUL!

So shes really giving us a free space to roam on what edition you'd like to get, or might already have! :) She also said for us to get is asap because as soon as we first meet with her, Sep 13th, she'll be referring to it (I believe).

Woot! Another book to buy and homework to do! lol So much for having a couple days off until school. lol Welcome to reality for the next 27 months! :)
