How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Published

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

For those starting in fall 2010, we have an assignment posted on web ct for the anatomy and physiology class. We have to get familiar with the netter atlas and know the bones and muscles of the upper and lower limbs. so check your webct and the class info. So much for enjoying our last few days of freedom. Lol

wow... well ur Journey has began

welcome guys.... im actually a 3rd semester at Nova Ft Lauderdale>

ADVICE: TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!!!!

FOR 1ST SEMESTER the hardest class is A&P ( just read the ppt and if you dont understand it then go to the book) really read.... and enjoy because you dont really start your nursing classes untill 2nd semester.

2ND SEMESTER (OMG) i dont want to scare you but... WOW!!! BE READY for those of you that are planning on working i dont think its a great idea... second semester we had health assessment (Killer) Pathophysiology (Killer) Foundation (OK) and critical thinking (waste of time) for clinicals you have to go to skills lab once a week and to the Hospital once a week also for 12 hours ( what yo do its morning care, change them, clean them, give meds, etc) ONCE AGAIN~~~~~ Be ready!... you have to be on top of you game because the road its crazy!!!!! Welcome to the rollercoaster!!!!!!

PS about the scrubs.... mmm the ones from bookstore they SUCK!!!!!! i actually got mine at alluniform store!!! they really dont care as long as they have the teal color :) and they are wayyyy cheaper!!!!

Mayteb, how helpful are the professors. Do they take the time to explain or are the uninterested in our progress. I don't want to be babies but I would like some nuturing. This will be very intimidating at first for us all, so we are going to need that extra something. Thanks for answering my questions.

hey guys , i'm in the process of applying right now, I done all my pre-reqs with a 3.39 GPA, i have experience in the health care field, does the personal statement have to be long and what are chances of getting in for next winter?:)

Well When I applied they told me they did not want essays they only wanted a personal statement... Mines was two paragraphs because they told me no essays =/ I confirmed You as a friend!!! You are applying for winter right? I hope we all get accepted !!

mayteb87: i wanted to know how much you spent for tuition, books, scrubs, insurance, etc for your first semester so i know more or less how much i have to save

thank you :

thanks boo13812002 hopefully we get accepted together, keep me posted and so will i. for the recommendation letters can i sent more then two they require?

Yeah I sent two, one from my anatomy professor and doctor ( old boss )... but I know there are some people who send more...

Stephanie they only look at 2 of your recommendation letters but i sent 4 in total lol just in case its always good to be on the safe side but i do think they take a look at everything so the more the merrier... you never know with NSU... also for the scrubs boo order one from Nova to see the script on the uniform thats what i did and then i took it to another store and had it engraved there and gave them Nova's scrub top... to copy. It came out A LOT cheaper. Nova is a rip off with the scrubs and the engraving didnt even come out nice... the other store did it nicer.. so my advice is to buy one pair and then take it to another store.. i got 4 sets and nova automatically gives you 10% off at certain uniform stores... so its worth buying it eslewhere.... NSU is pricey i was looking at my cost now and thank god for my scholars program but it still racks up and I quit work to be full time.... NSU in total is about 41 grand a year... and they still have me as an out of state student, so add 7 grand to that if you're out of state.... ridiculous im telling you... the books arent that bad but I purchased them through Amazon but its a LOT of books lol for one class you need 3 books... UGH annoying so books alone you are looking at 300 if anything give or take.... the anatomy books was 140 just to give you the price... goodluck again and if you need more info just pm me or let me know here... hope i helped out... and goodluck on your admission process everyone!!! Hang in there!:anpom:

Stephanie, you can send more than the required reccommendation letters butane are you don't send all the same type. When I applied, I sent four letters two online and two by mail. Three of my letters were actual letters and one was the evaluation form. Two of my letters were from science professors and two were from psychology professors.

thank you jerziana29 for your reply what level of chemistry they want because i took principles of chemistry instead of general chemistry. i hate chemistry with a passion. but if i count all my sciences classes it would be 3.73 gpa. when you said "nsu in total is about 41 grand a year" you mean out of state student, i thought it was 19,995 per year and 40 thousand for the program. good luck and congrats, i know i won't see you again once school start, you will be too busy...lol.
