How to become RN in British Columbia?

I just got a letter from CRNBC stating they have my documents and along with the letter were necessary forms that have to be accomplished. All of a sudden, I'm worried because of kit25's last post.

I would just wait now and see what the province says

Yesterday, October 8, I received an envelope from CRNBC containing a letter stating what I have to accomplish to in order to take the CRNE along with other forms, including Form 18 (Application to Write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination). My name is spelled incorrectly on Form 18. The discrepancy seems like it was caused by whoever typed it. Because my application status online contains the proper spelling and it is typed correctly on the envelope that I received yesterday. To avoid any delays due to the typographical error committed, I've decided to e-mail [email protected]; [email protected] and ask about what action would be best regarding this matter. Any advice?

my family name too in that form was mispelled. i emailed my registration assessor and told me to just correct it and no need to request a new form.

ths is the email i received from my registration assessor:

i am sorry that there was a typo on your exam application. it is not necessary to receive a new exam application; please just do the correction on the form that was sent, and then submit it when you are ready to apply for the exam.

hi breech thanks for the information that you provided. we appreciate all your actions in providing us essential answers. i really have a puzzled mind before if i am still gonna pursue applying to Canada because i have a limited experience i only have 10 months of experience as a MS staff nurse here in the Philippines and i am really in doubt if i will find an employer. but now i am taking a risk i'm gonna apply for the crnbc i will not wait for my ielts exam to expire. also, i will do it by myself having an agency is very expensive.

breech, i have a question, your first step is that you apply for the crnbc and then after it has been approved you search for an employer?

or is it possible that i can find an employer first to be sure before applying for crnbc?

because it will be a waste if crnbc approved my application to take the crne and then after that i cannot find an employer.

I would image the employer will prefer to know that you have been accepted by the CRNBC before offering you a job

kit is very much correct! finding a Canadian employer was a very tough experience in my case. Up to now, I still couldn't believe they accepted me with this a handful of experience (maybe of my constant follow-up and even calling them thru phone). It's just a matter of showing your interest by being honest to them of your purpose working abroad.

hey breech, wow, congrats on landing a job offer! i have my eligibility to write the exam and to apply for temp registration once there's an employer to take me in under supervision. you applied to which positions? the regular staff nurse positions or as a graduate nurse? i can't apply to the regular staff nurse positions since they all require "current practicing registration with crnbc"..

humm or i shouldn't feel this limited huh? ideally, i would want to work with a temp registration prior to having the exam... so far, i haven't had the luck, but keeping faith. or i can resolve to taking the exam first, then finding a job.. though that entails multiple trips to and from there.

aye, so my search continues.. thanks for the bit of inspiration with your getting a job offer, and the bid of luck!

when i applied to diffrent health authorities, it seems they have a common response. They will consider my application if I have my eligibility to take CRNE/temp registration. Things won't go further if you did not make the first step which is CRNBC registration..

apply RN jobs that is a regular full time position for immigration purposes.

in my case, i was not required by crnbc to take re-entry course or sec. however, applications are assessed individually basing in your transcripts in your nursing school. i haven't known of somebody who registered to crnbc that was required to have sec or re-entry course.

your experience inspired me. i've been contemplating on applying for registration in BC but was hesitant since i haven't heard of anybody who have successfully done it from the Philippines. I'm about your age too. Difference is i've worked only in an ambulatory and private surgical clinics for approximately a year. So, im not sure if i'll be made eligible. you know how hard it is just to raise the application fee.
