Hi guys i need your suggestions on this, my wife recently passed the recent board exam given by PRC last June2008, in this regard shes asking the step to take in going for an RN in British Columbia, Vancouver. What are the requirements so she can have her papers assessed.
Form 37 is for paid work right? So you did not use this form? hehe.. sorry if Im a bit irritating to you. I just want to clear things out before lodging my application to CRNBC.After you made eligible by CRNBC, did they sent you your Temporary Registration? or we have to apply for that one? Is that the same with Temporary Work Permit? How about your visa?
I dont know if im asking the correct questions or all the information I got mixed up. Im also considering LPN in BC but I have to try RN first. Do I have to thank you again! :loveya:hehehe....
You will be made eligible for temporary registration if you pass all the assessment/qualifications set by the CRNBC. You cannot have your temporary registration without an employer.
I haven't known of somebody who register to CRNBC that was unsuccessful. Experience is not needed in order to be made eligible with CRNBC as long you did not graduate 5 years ago.
hi breech,
congratulations, it's inspiring to see your case progressing successfully. i feel excited for you -- hope i'll be as lucky, too.
you mentioned in your post that you haven't met anybody who wasn't successful in being made eligible by CRNBC -- do you happen to know any 2nd coursers who were successful?
i need to know if my 2nd courser BSN will meet the requirements of CRNBC, because the application fees are so expensive and it takes several months to wait for the result. i already applied with CNO and wasn't successful there so now i'm trying out other provinces, beginning with BC. it would make things easier and a lot less expensive for us if the specific BSN requirements for every province were known outright, so we can determine where and where not to apply. unfortunately there seems to be no way to determine this now except by going through the process itself and waiting for every result.
i suppose you had your credentials evaluated by WES -- could you please share with us the specific requirements (e.g. number of hours needed for each nursing area: theory, clinical, labs) that a nurse needs to fulfill in order to be made eligible? need to know this 'cause even if other 2nd coursers do get through, credentials are assessed on a case by case basis.
thanks so much for taking the time to answer our queries. you're a blessing to us here :loveya:

Hi Lucy,
Applications are assessed individually. I don't know the specific requirement when it comes to practice hours needed for each nursing area. CRNBC has its standards. We cannot tell the outcome of the application until you will submit them and have it assessed. As what I've known, CNO has higher standard compared to other provinces.
hi,
i've been searching for a thread that could have possibly discussed about international nurses who doesn't have an experience from the country they are from yet and have been made eligible by CRNBC and applied in the New graduate (RN) program such as the ones that providence healthcare offers to new grads.I wonder if we can apply for this while on temporary registration or is this limited to Canadian newly grads only. Have emailed providence healthcare already about this but have not gotten a response yet.I hope sobebody knows about this. thanks.
to lucy:second courser here...made eligible by CRNBC along with my brother
congrats, peepo! that's very good news, indeed. thanks!
was there a need for you to have your credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES) -- did CRNBC require that, or not anymore? just the one page request for transcript from your nursing school? also, if you can recall, in that page which your school registrar filled up, just the total hours of theory and clinicals need to be provided, right?
and last question, how many months did it take -- from sending in application to receiving eligibility?

I didnt use the form 37 because during that time, I have less than 3 mos. in training as RN. You will be made eligible for temporary registration after you will be assessed by CRNBC and also eligible to take CRNE. Im in the process of BC PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) for permanent residency. Temporary work permit and temp registration are different things. TWP is handled by CIC while temp registration is handled by CRNBC while you still prepare for the exam (CRNE)
