Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Have you ladies looked into nursing homes or rehabilitation facilities I know it’s not everybody’s first choice but I’ve had friends who had hard times finding jobs as ADNs at big hospitals so they started at these places and with the degree plus six months experience were able to get into the larger hospitals. I know you ladies will end up where you are destined to be sometimes we have to sacrifice for the bigger picture and it’s not a sacrifice per say just a way to get some experience and stand out a little more.

It's my understanding that it doesn't work that way for a BSN grad.

Anybody receive word from Memorial Hermann for match day? Applied to southwest campus and application states, still in review.

HCA just sent out invitations for hiring event

I got a rejection for MH Memorial City

Congrats!! Which unit are you interviewing with, if you don't mind me asking?

The ER..Thank you!!

I still haven’t heard anything from anywhere. All of my apps say submitted or received. This is torture.

A recruiter for MH informed me she would be following up with applicants next week. So we only have to make it through the weekend and fingers crossed we'll actually know more by then...

I also haven't heard back yet from Baytown Methodist yet. I was told I'd hear back by the end of this week. Hopefully, no news yet is good news as someone said! So I'll continue to be patient. I still have exams, finals and the NCLEX to stress over lol

Good Luck Everyone! Stay Positive and faithful

Tell me about it...I keep hitting the refresh button over and over again.

Hope they don't wait to long to inform us because I'm coming from out of town.

Thank you.

I had a prescreening interview with Methodist TMC acute care last week and haven't heard anything back yet. Is this the same case for anyone else? I'm trying to decide if I should email them or not.

@CapRN2019 I’m in the same boat as you! I’ll be coming from Tennessee so I need to hear something ASAP lol
