Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Anyone heard from MH TMC or Houston Methodist yet? Do they usually contact by phone or email?

@UH09 yes for MH Children’s.. Methodist TMC, Harris Health, and CHI too.

thats why I was getting worried because it seems like my apps haven’t even been reviewed.

I got a rejection from memorial city MH for med surg what a bummer I work for them and did most of all my clinicals at a MH but oh well I really believe in letting things fall into place the recruiter asked about my number 2 so she could forward my info to them, but I’m like does it even matter I’m sure they’ve been going through applications and have made choices since Match day is next week I’m down to Methodist, st Luke’s, HCA, Harris, and MD haven’t heard anything from a few of them I’m just gonna say no news is good news I guess lol

@tll yes. All of my applications still say received for MH, Houston Methodist, and Harris Health. I would caution those who haven’t heard back from HH. I applied to their residency program as well last year and didn’t receive a rejection letter nor response for interview. Not being the bearer of bad news, just providing a personal experience. Maybe things are different, I don’t know. Oh yeah one more thing. They (meaning recruiters) look at these forums. Just an FYI.

So, for those who interviewed with Methodist Sugarland for Mother Baby did you hear back yet? Has anyone heard from Methodist TMC ICU?

Also, I have been looking at MD Anderson hoping they have an opening in pedi, has anyone seen one?

MD sent me an invitation to do a video prescreening yesterday, the residency program open right now is only for hematology and med-surg, or at least that’s what the description says
