Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.
I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

I was too up in the air to apply to St. Lukes with everything going on with them lately, but looks like I should have just incase. Hope everyone stays positive !
What unit did u apply for at MH memorial if you don’t mind me asking ?

As someone said lay offs and what not. Someone also died in the ED by getting the wrong blood. It had also happened a few days before that , but was caught in time. They also lost accreditation a and their heart transplant program a few months prior because of the amount of deaths.

I was responding to a person who applied to the labor & delivery unit. It is very difficult to enter a specialty unit as new grad. Did you also apply to a specialty unit, flowerrgirl0?
Oh I’m sorry I mixed up the names haha no right now I’ve only applied to med surge positions because as you said it’s really hard as a new grad in speciality areas ? I’m just hoping for the best !
I truly sorry, I'm super stressed at this moment and I have been thinking about applying to programs out of state because I am afraid I will not find a job here, and I cannot financially wait until the next cohort. I appreciate everyone here sharing their experiences.
PS. I had to withdraw my application from one hospital system because I had a conflict with their mandatory orientation schedule. It was the most heartbreaking thing to do.

Looks like I will also be looking at schools out of state because I don’t think I’ll find a job here and I financially can’t wait and hope I’ll get something.
