Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

I asked the recruiter and she said they wouldn’t have that information until later down the line, so put your “true top two unit preferences” in your application.

I have heard anything back at all from St. Lukes and my application still shows as In Progress ?. Did you apply to any location in particular?

Well initially when I applied it was the general application for the residency, then about a week or two later I recieved an email that contained a questionnaire that asked a few questions and had me select which location and unit I preferred and I chose the TMC location and 3 clinical interest

I haven't heard back from MH children's yet and my application online says "application received" not "under review." I did get the second part of the application with the questions. Does anyone else's application still say that or do you think they didn't get my email with my answers? I didn't receive a confirmation email that it was received, so I'm worried haha Thank you!

sorry about the rejection kf201788 ! I was also rejected from MH memorial.

I was too up in the air to apply to St. Lukes with everything going on with them lately, but looks like I should have just incase. Hope everyone stays positive !

I thought I would at least recieve an interview from St. Lukes, but "NO longer in consideration" hurts my feelings. I didn't recieve anything from the MH yet. I was responding to a person who applied to the labor & delivery unit. It is very difficult to enter a specialty unit as new grad. Did you also apply to a specialty unit, flowerrgirl0?

I don't know what we are allowed to talk about and what we are not... if you google it with the words Houston and news, you should find multiple articles.

I just checked and mine still says the same too. I actually got an Email from a recruiter double checking what my unit preference was, so I'm sure they received my application with the questions even though I didn't get a confirmation. I'm sure you're fine as well!
