Hi everyone! I will be graduating with my BSN this semester and I'm applying for residencies in the Houston area. I already applied to Houston Methodist but wanted to hear about other programs that might be interesting. Best of luck!

You can take a gap semester and reapply next semester. I met a girl who didn't get a job graduated in August and she got a job at HCA with the December cohort now. I'm considering doing that too. The Houston nurse residency application experience has not been the best for me... I just had a random offer from Methodist and it is not the unit of my choice. I'm thinking if I can start work there and then re apply next cohort as well.

thank you for the advice. sounds like the plan! I actually graduated in August too. do you know if she applied online or got the offer though a hiring event?
also I just wanted to put it out there that I went to the hca medical center hiring event. they only let new grads interview for med surg when the email said other specialties are available. and that the January cohort was filled. kinda weird because when I talked to a recruiter in September (end of it) she said they were barely finalizing the Spring cohort dates.
My theory is that many people were hired from job fairs, already worked for HCA, or were people who had connections with the hiring staff. Because how can you say you don't even know the start dates and will notify us then all of a sudden all the positions are filled (except med surg of course)? It just doesn't make sense

She got it through online application but it is not a place as competitive as TMC. I still think going in person event will help you more than just the online application.

If you are graduating Spring of 2024 you should've already applied for the Spring 2024 cohort last October. but u can check their website if it is still open. they usually open 5 months before cohort start dates.
