I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.
I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

but their pay is kind of low, so alot of students are turning it down (I turned down their CVICU for that exact reason) so they'll probably call you to interview for a different unit. My friend didn't get her first choice, but they've already called her to interview for multiple other units

This whole list was a slap in the face in my opinion. Basically all Med Surg units. If that is your passion or you don’t have a preference cool. I will stay with HCA at this point. These big name hospitals are playing games. I don’t like it

Agreed. TCH had the NERVE to only pay $26.50 an hour with NO LOAN REPAYMENT and only 2500$ in tuition reimbursement a year. Like what kind of joke is that?? and then they wonder why ALL of their nurses keep quitting.

and they have a 5000K starting bonus for new grades AND 150$ monthly loan repayment starting from month 1. HCA is finally getting their *** together, and TCH is officially trash. The only perk of working there is that get to have the "name brand" of working there more than anything else.

This weekend Methodist offered me a position at TMC location. I know Methodist doesn’t have a two year contract and their pay is a little higher because of the location. In the email it said they also pay for your parking. What would y’all do if you were me? Looking for any advice! Thanks!
I would go with anything in TMC just because of the fact you'll see more critical patients than you would at a suburban hospital.

It is really dependent upon what you want and what goals you have for yourself. Are you deciding to go to school soon? Is location a factor etc etc.

They first told me 10k in Feb. Then the recruiter tried to act like they weren’t doing the sign on bonus anymore. 2k relocation. Any advice on how to get them to give a actual bonus? Thanks
