Houston GN Residencies

U.S.A. Texas

I will be a new grad in May 2011 with my BSN and I have applied to a few residencies such as St. Luke's and Memorial Hermann, but I can't seem to find any of the other hospital's postings yet. Has anyone else been able to?

It just says 100-Hold on my status. Don't also know what it means though.

Thats great. I think they will hire you. So do you like to work on the OR?

Misspamela19.....Maxim staffing hire GN's?

Yes, they do - they said that the hospitals and places that you will go will be more limited because you are a new grad, but that they will. I am very hesitant to do it as a new grad, but not only is it a good backup plan, but say I do get a full time job, I can stay hired under Maxim and work per diem for some extra money.

Thanx for the response, i need a back up plan.

I graduated in December 2010 and got my license in February of 2011. MDA is interviewing 29 of the 225 applicants. Yikes!!!!

I did not do an externship at MDA, but did do clinicals there for a semester.

shihtzu9, are you one of the 29 being interviewed?...if you are good luck, i hear it's a great place to work..I applied but they said they only want ppl who already graduated and have their license .....so you are in a good position. :)

Yes, but I'm wondering how many externs they are interviewing since they will most likely be hired before others. Luckily I have already graduated and have my license so was therefore able to get an interview. We shall see what happens!!

I knew a couple of interns who graduated in december and most of them have jobs already so don't worry you'll do great..let us know how it goes.

No, what email?? Ive been in contact with one of the nurse recruiters there and he said the director of nursing has 500 applicants and wants to look through all applications before sending out interview offers. Did you receive an email of some sort?

No I didn't but heard that as a rumor from my class. Don't know how true it is though so I was seeing if anyone else heard this.
