Houston GN Residencies

Published

I will be a new grad in May 2011 with my BSN and I have applied to a few residencies such as St. Luke's and Memorial Hermann, but I can't seem to find any of the other hospital's postings yet. Has anyone else been able to?

Does anyone know when all the HCA hospitals will post there GN positions?? I didn't know if they are usually late with theirs and wait till near the end of April or early May

go to www.hcacareers.com and in the keyword box, type in Nurse. West Houston Medical center has a posting up. On page 4 of the search results there is a posting titled 'Gradeuate Nurses Apply Here Only'. Click on that and apply

Thanks but I applied last month and never heard anything so I guess they don't want to hire me

Did you try and call? I am applying at several places and I'm calling around and putting my name out there. Im already a Student Nurse Tech with Ben Taub though... but I never want to rely 100% on any employer.

I will have to call and see the status of my application. I wish they wouldn't have been so vague and just say tell us what department you want to go to. It would have been easier to say which departments were open. What hospitals have you applied for??

I have applied to a few HCA GN positions myself; Bayshore, W Houston, Conroe Regional. I called all of them today and left messages, actually. Bayshore's secretary told me that all of the positions have been filled, and she wasn't very nice about it either, lol. Who knows how true that is cuz my application status still says active.

My pet peeve are when hospitals aren't straight up with you from the jump. Don't just leave me hanging for weeks or months, waiting for something that won't come. I wish these places would be courteous enough to send people a "you weren't selected" email and put people out of their misery of waiting.

I applied at several places... I tried to apply at smaller suburb hospitals that arent as popular. Of course I would apply with my current employer... since they really trained us in various HCHD facilities to eventually work for them. But I applied at Houston Northwest Medical Center (used to Volunteer there), West Houston Medical Center, Cypress Fairbanks, Memorial Hermann, San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, At a couple smaller psych facilities, and a Kelsey Seybold clinic. And one of my nursing professors are putting a good word for me at Methodist Sugarland and Katy.

When did San Jacinto Methodist put up GN positions?? I didn't see any last time I checked but it's been awhile

Trill, I applied to everything you did except St. Lukes (Missed the deadline by a day - oops!) and I am beginning to have a HUGE pet peeve about that too! It's legitimately insane how they have been treating applicants; no calls back, no emails, no rejections ... and I think what makes me more mad, is for example, I call Mem Hermann today since everything I have been reading on here basically says they have hired everyone... and they tell me all positions have been filled for all specialties. YET, I go on my app site on there and the ED one is still open?! How is it filled if the application is still available? And I've noticed that for 3-4 other hospitals too. So frustrating. I know they're "overwhelmed", but we deserve at least a rejection.

People in my class who were internal got hired on to St Lukes but they are only hiring 25 the last I heard. I want to say 5 or 6 people from our class got hired there

MissPamela: Trust me I feel your pain girl! It's annoying. I hope they realize that they are setting a really bad first impression on their future employees.

Princess: San Jac's applications are up! (I applied a couple of days ago) They have quite a few specialties open actually.

And just in case anyone was curious, HCHD got roughly 500 applicationd for 45 spots throughout the district.
