Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I was writing to see if anyone has applied to the HBU FNP or PNP program. I am looking into my options since a hiccup in my personal life disallowed me to accept another schools offer, and found the HBU program which is all online and now accredited. The website is very vague in terms of application process and admission requirements, however I am very curious on the offerings the program has. I have reached out to the school, but have yet to hear from them and would love the insight from other current/prospective students.

Awesome! Do you happen to have the link of what books are required for first semester?

Hello congratulations to all accepted into the program! I was also accepted into the SPRING 2020 cohort for the PNP track. I have been recently trying to contact an advisor to receive more info on the setup of the semester, especially since they switched to 16 week courses. Have you guys received any updates on how our first semester will go? I am a full time night shift nurse and I am very nervous/worried about taking such heavy classes (patho, pharm and integration) while working.

Hi and congrats!!! I recieved the packet so we can setup our blackboard and email account. I need to email the counselor as well. On my schedule I'm only registered for two classes, when in reality we are supposed go be taking three. That was the only update that I've received. I'm a lil worried too since I'm full time as well.

Good morning! I spoke to a counselor once since acceptance emails went out and all she said was that the professors try to work together to balance the course load and that the previous cohorts preferred the 16 week semester over the mini sessions. I’m still really nervous though ?

I'm nervous too!! I couldn't find the link to our books. Any luck on your end? I possibly might like the 16 week class instead a quick 8 week session. What part of Texas are you in? I want to see if anyone is close to me so we can make a study group..

I found the class schedule and looked up the courses on the university store text book section and Patho book ISBN 9780323583473. Pharm (main book) 9780803638273. I would wait to verify first...pharm has 2 more book listed..

Hello I live in outskirts of Houston but work in the Med Center... study groups sounds like a great idea. I found the books but went through the university website. It looks like I’ve been enrolled in to 2 of the classes however I thought I saw somewhere there are supposed to be 3 classes we’re taking this semester. Honestly I think taking Adv Patho and Adv Pharm together are enough, even with this being a 16 week semesters

I wonder if they do it like that we so have a break in between semesters? Instead of year round? Idk I feel like I’m lacking information in what they are planning for this program. Thank you for finding and sharing the text book information. I unfortunately don’t live in the Houston area. But I think we should start a group like a group chat or a Facebook group idk something to keep in touch and share information.

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the FNP program at HBU. I will graduate in the fall of 2020. Don't worry too much about the program. The professors are really great and understanding. They communicate quickly if you have questions or concerns. Ya'll will do great. Adv patho and pharm are very doable together. Remember you have your foundation. You are just building on what you know.

Best of luck.
