Man, some of you LPN's are making more an hour in you LTC facility then I was as an RN in mine. Even as a Charge Nurse in my facility don't think I was even making $20.00 per hour no extra pay for weekend or holidays and no benefits. Stand your ground guys and gals, they are going to have to start paying for the services we provide. WOW, I can't believe what some of you are making

I work for an LTC/SNF/Rehab in the Bronx, NY. I get $21.47 for day shifts and $23.61 for evening and nights.

she should be making a lot more than that by now.

i know one lpn that makes just over $40,000 a year with 30 years experience. that's new jersey by the way.

Yeah but the 10 bucks an hour was back in like 2000 when this thread was first started! There is a difference in the cost of living in certain states as one other nurse here noted, so the wages would not be as high anyway.

THIS IS MUCH MORE LIKE WHAT I'M USED TO! $10.00 AN HOUR?! YEAH RIGHT!!!!

Thank you for pointing out that this thread is really old! :)

I earn $23 in my first LVN job just south of San Francisco. I have friends who are working in San Francisco at their first jobs and are making $25. I was offered $25 to work in San Fran but it was an on-call position, so I decided to go with the full time position instead (I like having a schedule!). Seasoned LVN's make closer to $30 in the Bay Area but the cost of living is prohibitive! I am working on my RN and not focusing so much on what I am making right now, I mean it's okay. I was told after 3 months they will raise it to $24. I just want to get used to the job for a year, not jump jobs, because I can concentrate more on my RN if I am not orienting to a new facility! That said, I would consider living somewhere else for a lesser wage if the cost of living was better (I think that includes 98% of the US!). Most peeps in the Bay Area can't afford to buy a home, me included, but I will be more marketable someplace else if I have a year's worth of work experience, so I'll stay put for now!

hey everyone,

I live long Island and i work in LTC and the day shift make 21.00/hr. evening, and night make 23.00/hr with a yearly raise. I can't believe how little in places they pay LPN and RN"s even worst. I have many agencies I work for. I can make 26./hr 30/hr or even 27.00 depending on which one i use. OMG u guys need to move. So under paid!:confused:!

Then again, this discussion is 8 years old. It was started in 2000, so I'm assured that the earlier posters are now earning more money in 2008.

In addition, the cost of living in Long Island can be prohibitive for an LPN who wants the middle class comforts of a house, newer cars, retirement accounts, savings, vacations, and so forth.

I am a new grad LPN in NW Arkansas. Clinic nurses in this area (new grads) start between 12.50 and 14.50 per hour with benefits. Usually, with a raise of between .50 and 1.00 after 90 days. Hospital new grads do not start out at much more than 14.50. LTC can start between 15.00 or 20.00 per hour depending on the shift.

I'm a new grad LPN I just started in a LTC facitily and my base pay is $20 with $2.25 shift differential on 3-11 and weekends.:nurse:
