SO FAR, the accusation is that Wilson used images of children in sexual activity on his own home computer. But the number of pictures and the accusation that he uploaded images as well as downloaded has investigators concerned.

State police arrested Wilson after searching his apartment at 124 Dana Avenue. That's just a couple of blocks from the hospital where Wilson works as a nurse in the pediatric unit. Wilson's personal computer and associated software was seized.

Wilson has been suspended from his job at Albany Med while his case continues through the legal system. The hospital has no further comment on him.

Wilson is currently in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.

There is no current evidence that Wilson did anything criminal at Albany Med, but the fact that an accused pedophile was nursing children has authorities concerned and continuing their investigation.

Nurse faces Media charge

Albany-- Images of children allegedly on home computer of Albany Med pediatric worker

A pediatric nurse was jailed Wednesday for allegedly possessing child Mediaography on his home computer after coming to the attention of a national group that tracks exploitation of children, State Police said.

B. Lee Wilson, 43, was charged with a felony count of possessing a sexual performance of a child, in the form of computer images, police said.

Wilson has worked for nine years at Albany Medical Center Hospital, the last four as a licensed practical nurse in the pediatric unit, said spokeswoman Trooper Maureen Tuffey. Police have no evidence "at this point" of any abuse of children in the hospital, she said.

"We don't even have evidence of him taking any pictures," she said. "We have evidence of him receiving and passing on child Mediaography."

Wilson was suspended from his job last week "when we learned of the situation," and that he was under investigation, Albany Med spokesman Greg McGarry said. "We haven't had any complaints or incidents related to his work here at the Medical Center."

Tuffey said Wilson's other service at the hospital consisted of work as a nursing assistant and as an orderly before he was certified as an LPN.

The arrest on Tuesday followed the execution of a search warrant at Wilson's home earlier this week by investigators from Troop G headquarters in Loudonville. The Computer Crime Unit seized Wilson's personal computer as well as computer software, Tuffey said. After an arraignment Wednesday before City Court Judge John C. Egan Jr., Wilson was sent to the county jail.

The probe was initiated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, based in Alexandria, Va., Tuffey said.

"Part of their job with the exploited children half is not only do they receive a lot of tips but they go through Web sites and check them out" she said.

"Child Mediaography flourished with the use of computers," Tuffey said.

What I don't understand is how a convicted pedophile got a job in pediatrics in the first place, or why he still had an unrestricted license to practice! Doesn't NY do criminal checks before hiring? Doesn't NY require reporting a criminal conviction to the SBON? Something is wierd with this story.

I wondered that too. But it doesn't say that he was a convicted pedophile, just an accused pedophile, which I'm assuming is stemming from this incident.

But I would like to know what led investigators to him home computer. Something had to happen....

Ahhh.... someone always posts the answer while I'm still typing the question! :D

Heather,

It appears some national group tracked his downloading/uploading habits.

for allegedly possessing child Mediaography on his home computer after coming to the attention of a national group that tracks exploitation of children

"Part of their job with the exploited children half is not only do they receive a lot of tips but they go through Web sites and check them out"

Could very easily be done, I suppose.

Scary. That could happen to MY husband. Sorry, but having files of child Media on your computer is not indicative of pedophila, in my opinion.

Well,, it might be indicative, but it's certainly not conclusive proof, unless he had extensive files that were labeled and categorized, for instance. Or if they had evidence that he was deliberately and repeatedly forwarding or distributing the material.

The reporting is so vague, and short on critical details, that it actually seems deliberately misleading.

In any case, he is a sick man and does NOT belong in Peds. I'm glad he's out of there and in jail where he belongs. Thank God for this national group who tracks down these animals otherwise he'd still be practicing with these kids.

I agree with suzy K . Ther is no mention that a conviction is in his past- but if the first few posts are any indication. there will be in his future- This isnt France- we have innocent until proven guilty

Once again the world has shown to be a scary place. Proceed with caution.

Thank you night owl!

Susy, I think they can tell if you downloaded stuff vs got it in spam.

I don't care if it was in his own home, what he was doing is contributing to the exploitation of children, innocents. If it weren't for scum like him, there wouldn't be a business like this. It is SICK whether in the privacy of his own home or not.

I would be so totally creeped out if I found out my child has been in the hospital under his care. I think I would need counseling, how SICK can this guy be??? This makes me nauseous.
