HELP!!! Going on an interview for HH

Specialties Home Health

Published

Hello, I am an LVN in San Jose Ca. I have an interview later today with Maxim HH. I have been a nurse for 4 years in various settings, currently I am a Charge nurse at a SNF. Can anyone tell me in short what it is HH Nurses do, what the schedules are like, patients per day etc.. what can I expect, and what I should ask at th einterview. Also Anyone here working for Maxim? Thanx....chelitta

Sent you a PM but you can't reply via PM until you have posted at least 15 times. You can find lots of info about hh by looking at threads and individual posts in this forum. The quality of your home health experience is greatly affected by the quality of the home health agency you work for. You can find a good agency in the San Jose area that treats their nurses with respect. Good luck.

My advice would be to look for another company. I don't know how it is in Ca, but in Texas, they do not have a good reputation.

Also, might want to go to www.indeed.com and read what other's have said about them. Looks like it's a company problem, not just with one location.

Feel free to PM me if you want more specifics. Do the research. HH is great! I just don't recommend Maxim.:scrying:

I've also read the forum comments about Maxim at indeed.com. Very good reading. Some juicy info about the one accounts manager who is no longer with us. These various comments, mostly from former internal employees, do give one a look at the company that one might not otherwise have access to. Then again, one can communicate with those of us who have worked for Maxim in the field. Enough said. Hope the OP finds a good situation in San Jose with a reputable company.

I would also like some advice about Maxim. I am from Ohio. I am looking into Pediatric HH. Thanks!

I'm an RN & worked for maxim last year(private duty). I provided all care my pt during my 8hr shift. Just like in hospital, 1st thing is assess, document at least q 2hrs, give meds, feed, & keep pt clean. My pt was on vent so I was RT also. If pt has Dr appt, you go with the pt (I had peds so parent had to go with me to sign consents). I also started IV, & did Central Line dressing changes. At end of shift, the pt (parent in my case) signs nurses notes & you turn that in to Maxim. If pt becomes unstable you call their Doc & Maxim.

The "interview" I got included a test & orientation. I was given a test after I met the recruiter, offered the job then watch several videos about Maxim, HIPPA & etc . Don't worry about the test, I failed it the 1st time, then was given the test again (of course I passed). That "interview" lasted 4 hrs long.

Hope this helps.

Chelitta, be cautious, I am currently an RN new grad since April. I have worked for Maxim in Florida for 9 years doing peds home care. The work is awsome, the pay stinks. I have found not to expect much from the company itself, but learn from your experiences in your cases. The reason I and so many of my coworkers have stayed wasnt for the great company, but for the kids and families. It is very rewarding. If you are looking for a great company, decent benefits or pay, look somwhere else. Just my opinion but seems a few share it with me.

Oh btw, forgot to mention that i was an LPN for 18 years ( maxim for 9 of those!)

So, how did the interview go? the tests? what were they like------I live in ohio am seriously considering home care peds.......any info would help

I worked for Maxim. I would seriously consider working somewhere else. They don't have good rep in Phoenix area either.

I did go to this interview. There were many tests, but it wasn't too bad. The ones that I missed they allowed me to re-take later. I have a prn position there, but I have not worked there much lately because I have been busy with my regular position. Maxim must have a bad reputation in other areas but I just work when I want to and I dont work when I dont want to.
