Swine flu raises fear of pandemic - Adults and Children
Looked at Swine Flu @ CDC website, says 1 in 3 healthcare workers gets infected when exposed. I live here in Houston, & San Antonio is #1 vacation destination for us here in Texas. Just hope CDC is on top of this. Good that not all exposed to virus gets sick.

Nurse with mental illness
Your concerns are valid. Nursing school is stressful & expensive, and practicing nursing is stressful & very demanding esp. your first year. So please tell your school counselor about this. There are other carreers in the medical field that might suit you better.

Career change at 54 to Nursing?
You'll do great! Nursing is hands on patient care. Meaning, you have to be on your feet, moving patients & dealing with body fluids. So, physically you have to be up to it. But it's very rewarding & exciting, esp. if you're in ER or ICU.

Help new grad make career decision
If i were you, I'd take the case manager position. It's a good opportunity to get into another area of nursing.

HELP!!! Going on an interview for HH
I'm an RN & worked for maxim last year(private duty). I provided all care my pt during my 8hr shift. Just like in hospital, 1st thing is assess, document at least q 2hrs, give meds, feed, & keep pt clean. My pt was on vent so I was RT also. If pt has Dr appt, you go with the pt (I had peds so parent had to go with me to sign consents). I also started IV, & did Central Line dressing changes. At end of shift, the pt (parent in my case) signs nurses notes & you turn that in to Maxim. If pt becomes unstable you call their Doc & Maxim. The "interview" I got included a test & orientation. I was given a test after I met the recruiter, offered the job then watch several videos about Maxim, HIPPA & etc . Don't worry about the test, I failed it the 1st time, then was given the test again (of course I passed). That "interview" lasted 4 hrs long. Hope this helps.
