Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've recently been accepted to Holy Family's Accelerated Nursing program-- I understand they have just begun their first cohort, so finding information is very difficult and I just want to be informed before I make any sort of decision. Are there any current HFU accelerated nursing students or traditional nursing students who can speak to their experience with the university? I've seen many negative posts but they also seem a bit outdated! Thanks!

Hi, I am currently in HF's traditional Nursing program and I must say that the program has changed. Yes, HF's program is cheaper than 's and some of the other programs, but be prepared to work your butts off! :nailbiting: The grading system is on a ivy leaf level, but their program is great. All of you guys are going into the accelerated nursing program the work is going to be tremendous, but the work can be done! Nursing is not like all the other classes that you guys had before, you CAN NOT study the night before you have to study every single day too grasp the concept! Good Luck! :)

I just had my interview yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed!

You will be fine. Don't worry!Have you finished all your pre-requisites?

Deenin what other accelerated BSN programs are you thinking of applying into? What part of CA did you move from and where are you living now? HFU is attractive to me bc I currently live in Bucks (moved from San Diego area in February.)

I'm from the Bay Area, near San Jose and San Francisco. I was looking into Samuel Merritt's program too but it costs 65 grand. I was looking at Holy Family because I have family in South Jersey and I can stay there with them while I finish the program. Also it only costs 30 grand and I would be able to just pay up front without taking any loans. Win/win situation for me but I need to know more about the program because I have already got the information I needed from regarding their ACE program and everyone seems to say to stay away because of the exit HESI where you have to pass with a certain number and it's pretty hard to get. I had a friend of mine who went to the University of San Francisco and they just started the exit HESI and he passed on his fourth try. This guy isn't a jack off either, he worked hard. Some of his friends failed 6 times and were eventually banned from repeating it so they spent 2 years of schooling and all that money and ended up with no BSN!!! Very very very scary as I'm a male and married with 2 kids and I am the breadwinner for my family!!!

Oh man that exit exam sucks.. Any idea about HFUs NCLEX pass rate?

It is 76% for now but I heard from one of the instructors that the recent one is 93% but it can change before September annual report

76%? Maybe that's why their ratings are so low. Do they require the HESI at HFU or did you mean ?

You can see the NCLEX pass rates for 2014 for all of the PA schools like HFU and . Pretty good in my opinion :)

I meant HFU, what ratings are you talking about? Their nclex pass rate for now is at 93% now and it has always been in the 90s except last year due to the change in nclex questions. Google is your friend, please check it out

Oh Google and I are buds. But I was on my phone earlier and it wasn't cooperating. HFU has low ratings when you Google them in comparison to other programs. They are a very well known nursing school here and it's nice that they are not downtown. But their website isn't as informative as others (maybe since this is only their 2nd cohort for the accelerated program). After doing a bit more research, seems HFU doesn't HESI either, making it slightly less stressful.

For me, I need to find a program that doesn't have expiration for pre-reqs, as I took most around 12 years ago when I thought I'd go to PA school.

Glad to hear the NCLEX rate is higher than I misunderstood it as.

you will have to retake those prereqs because all schools in PA requires maximum of 10 years, I think hfu is even 5
