Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've recently been accepted to Holy Family's Accelerated Nursing program-- I understand they have just begun their first cohort, so finding information is very difficult and I just want to be informed before I make any sort of decision. Are there any current HFU accelerated nursing students or traditional nursing students who can speak to their experience with the university? I've seen many negative posts but they also seem a bit outdated! Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I was accepted to Holy Family for Fall 2015. My acceptance is contingent on the completion of all prerequisites except for statistics, which I completed with my first bachelor's degree.

I completed nutrition, microbiology, and A&P I in the spring, and I am currently completing A&P II.

Today, I am facing an unanticipated problem- I sent them transcripts showing completion of Nutrition after the spring semester, and they never raised any concerns until today. I received an email from the program coordinator asking for final transcripts showing completion of all prerequisites. I asked her if she had record of my completion of nutrition.

Her response:

As indicated on your acceptance letter, the only course we have is Statistics. If you can provide a syllabus for Nutrition so we can have that reviewed.

I think that any potential concerns with the nutrition course that I took should have been raised when I submitted the transcripts three months ago... Not one month before the start of classes. I already put a deposit on an apartment. I cannot afford to loose my acceptance over one class.

If you are planning on attending, please be proactive in ensuring that all of your prerequisites are accepted. End rant.

Hey guys,

I was also accepted and I will be attending in the Spring! Congrats to all those who will be joining me! Can't wait to meet all of you :)

I had the same problem with my nutrition class that I took at . However, once I sent my syllabus over, they accepted it without a problem. I'm sure they will do the same for you if it is a 3 credit nutrition class.

Jaugusty, what was your prereq gpa and what as your overall gpa if you don't mind me asking? Thanks :)

Congrats to you!!!!!

DeeninNurse, I had 3.82 GPA from undergrad at in finance and econ. My prereq GPA was close to a 4.0, but I'm not sure exactly what it was off the top of my head because I took my classes at 3 different schools. I had A's in every class except a lab that was 1 credit (got a B in that class). Hope that helps!

Congrats! See you in the spring!

Hi all!

I also applied to Holy Family for spring 2016 and was wondering how long after you applied did Holy Family get back to you? Either to schedule an interview/ask questions? I received an email about a month ago asking for my nutrition class syllabus which I sent back to them...that was about 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything else. Applied probably about 1.5 - 2 months ago now, just wondering how long it took for you guys to hear back from the university? Also, when you received your acceptance was it in the mail or an email? Thanks for any info you can provide me!

I think it depends. I applied in February for the 2016 Spring cohort at the time they were still working on the Fall cohort. I did not here anything until July and they called me in for an interview. After the interview it was about two weeks later and I received a letter that I was accepted. Hope this helps

I applied in January. In June they invited me for an interview. Then approximately in two weeks I received acceptance letter through regular mail. You should better call them and ask about the status of your application. Because through their website you cannot really get the information you need.

Good luck to you

I was also accepted for Spring 2016 but I am trying to decide between HFU and Gwenydd Mercy.
