I've recently been accepted to Holy Family's Accelerated Nursing program-- I understand they have just begun their first cohort, so finding information is very difficult and I just want to be informed before I make any sort of decision. Are there any current HFU accelerated nursing students or traditional nursing students who can speak to their experience with the university? I've seen many negative posts but they also seem a bit outdated! Thanks!
Hello everyone! I just got my acceptance letter for Spring 2018 as well 2 days ago :) Im beyond excited but now I'm stressed trying to figure out how to pay for it. I know its not much but I really don't have much credit history since I was a fulltime student for 4 years. I know this is a 2nd degree program but do we not count as graduate students since we already have to hold a previous bachelors?
From what I've heard from previous classes like this, sallie mae doesn't really give anything, but I still intend to apply for federal and state loans. If for nothing else, I may be basically taking out a personal loan and pay what I can as I go. I'm going to wait a bit and reach out to HFU about some information sessions, I know they hold those a little closer to the start where they answer all these kinds of questions. And congrats! I'm thinking of making a Facebook page for our class, but I haven't been hearing much on here from others. Hopefully more chime in and we can start a page. I am so excited!!

How is the program going?? I am applying for the Fall 2018 semester now!
Did you get interviewed before being accepted? I read some things that some people had interviews and others did not?
Also if you don't mind me asking: what was you total gpa when you applied?
Thanks! and good luck with your studies!
I am applying this week for the Fall 2018 start. I am accepted at Rasmussen University in MN, but am so hoping I get accepted at HFU. I know they have a good reputation and the campus is so close to my house, so I wouldn't have to move halfway across the country.
I'm surprised they don't require additional testing like the TEAS. I guess they make a decision just on transferring GPA, letter of intent and letter of recommendation? Did anyone else have additional things they had to do or provide?

Hey Mike, sorry it took me some time to see this. So I am in my fifth week and so far I really like it. All the professors are amazing, and the labs are pretty cool. When we start our next semester is when the content is going to start getting really tough and I'm actually excited for it.
I did not get interviewed before being accepted but it sounds like a few people in my class were, so we're not really sure what the reasoning is behind that.
My total GPA wasn't great, to be honest, like a 3.1 or 3.2 (I had a rough first year, years ago), but my pre-requisite GPA was a 4.0. I am the only one in my class too, to have a Communications background, as most of my class already had a science background, so I really don't know what made them accept me haha.
Have you heard anything yet? I think they are making decisions soon, I saw that on another thread, I believe. Good luck to you! HFU has really improved their program, with NCLEX pass rates at 97.5% for the last class and 100% for the class before that one. I'm very happy to be a part of the HFU family.
Thanks for replying Kelly!
So I am somewhat patiently waiting for a response to my application. I am hoping a decision is made sooner than later. They did tell me that I will know by March 1st at the latest.
Assuming I am accepted- How much do you have to pay for textbooks, clinical scrubs and other supplies that you need? Or is most of that covered in tuition?
I have a bunch of questions. In this post I saw they may have started a Facebook group, do you know if that ever happened?
Thanks again!

That's awesome, then you should most likely hear within the next few weeks. I heard about a week or two before they said was the latest I would hear.
Books are kind of normal priced, I think my Fundamentals book was like $100, some of the others are cheaper. Scrubs were like $85 total for top, bottom and lab coat. You'll also have all of your stuff for clinicals, like vaccinations, CPR, a physical etc. Nothing extra like that is really covered under tuition.
We do have a fb page but it's really just a place for us to communicate when we're unsure of something or if we found a new resource that's helpful. I would say, if you're accepted, to get your class to start a page.
I can answer as much as possible, but like I said, you will learn A LOT at orientation! Also, I'm still getting used to it all, myself.
I have been accepted at a school in MN, but would much prefer to go to HFU...especially since I would not have to move. I live like 15 mins from HFU's Newtown campus. Plus, they have a better reputation and higher NCLEX pass rates. I am hoping to find out soon, because if not, I have to quit my job ad move out to MN in the next few weeks, as that program starts on April 2. What about you? Have you applied anywhere else?
