Yes, that's right, I just finished an in-service on HIPPA, no it was not about HIPAA it was about HIPPA. Throughout the entire reading, and on every question in the quiz, it was HIPPA. In an effort to not be the annoying employee who proofreads in-service documents, I will keep my mouth shut, but seriously?!

It is unfortunate that many people in the healthcare field use hippa as an excuse to cut off legitamit questions and concerns. Basicly they use is as an excuse for rudeness.

I believe the OP was posting about how ridiculous it is that her healthcare-related in-service documents and quiz said "HIPPA" instead of "HIPAA." I agree wholeheartedly with her.

Report it to your HIPAA Compliance Officer!
Or maybe in your facility, it's HIPPA Compliance Officer:o

LOL...We had a similar training. On our we even had the name Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act written out in bold and then beside it in bold text as well... (HIPPA).
I kept my mouth shut, too, but it was hard!

Love this! We have bulletin boards in our breakroom, each having some topic. Well, we had a board put up for HIPPA. By our unit's educator.
I think the best part about it was that the title HIPPA Compliance was typed directly above an image with the abbreviation HIPAA in huge font.
Kudos, OP, for keeping your mouth shut.

Unprofessional and frightening that those teaching it can't even get it right. That's just sad.

OK, I must confess something that many of you may view as shallow or petty. I CANNOT STAND to read something that is littered with grammatical errors. I immediately get so distracted by the errors that I lose sight of the content (see, shallow and petty). For example, I was reading an AORN published CNOR study guide, and it was chock full of grammatical errors. I had to just toss it. I wrote to the editors listed on the study guide, but shockingly did not hear back. (That was a joke...I kind of figured they wouldn't write me back.)
Now I am not talking about the occasional misspelled word, or the overuse of commas (like in my posts, for example:)), but rather the text that is overrun with errors to the point that I must decipher what I am reading. UGH! I think I need to go up on my OCD meds.
It shocks me that educators would put together packets for training with "HIPPA" on them. That is just like nails on a chalkboard.

I am exactly the same way!
I assume the educator in the OP's situation took a fair amount of time researching material for the inservice, which probably included coming across the expanded version of the term HIPAA. Why is it so difficult for presumably intelligent people to extrapolate the correct letters from the words "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act?"

I'm pretty sure this is a HIPAA violation.
