I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

I have a question for anyone who got an alternative seat. Has anyone heard anything, like a letter or email? I would have thought something would be done about it this week since last week was the deadline for us to accept or reject our seats?

I got an alternate seat and I am currently waiting patiently. According to prior HCC threads Alternate letters go out after background checks are cleared this is usually around 3-4 weeks after the deadline to accept/decline seats. So I am thinking it could be around Oct. 11 could be sooner.

I haven't emailed though. If anyone has spoken to or sought out info please share.

Can you tell us any more info? I don't have my AA yet. And I don't have my 2nd language. I'll have all my usf prerequisites just not the AA part. Where can I read more about qualifications? And how many semester hours minimum can we do? How will this impact our HCC classes? This is risky and scarey. Only because I have a job and 3 kids and I work. If my boyfriend can find a good paying job, I'm sure he won't mind picking up the bills.

They should explain this all in orientation but what we were told is we take the classes in the summer. I already have all my prereqs done so I'm not sure how it would work for those who don't but I can imagine it doesn't matter. Again, I'm sure they will explain all this to you at orientacion. Hopefully you get campus assignments soon, we didn't get ours til two days before orientation!

Oh my! 2 days before. Grrr that's to long. I really hope we get them soon. It looks like they are on top of things this semester because we got our letters on September 6th. Which is the earliest in 4 years any class has ever got their letter.

Hey everyone! I was chosen as an alternate with a 3.33 and got my acceptance letter today. So to other alternates: check your mailboxes! I'm so completely stoked and excited to join you all. I've been trying to get into nursing school for several years while working in a local emergency department as an EMT. I had worked as a CNA in various departments for five years prior. I almost gave up hope when I got my alternate letter but good things come to those who work hard and stay positive. So excited to be with you all!

I'm hoping for Dale Mabry nights and weekends so that I can attempt to continue working at least at the beginning. I know it's unlikely that I will be assigned the schedule I want but beggars can't be choosers. At least I'm in!

Yay! Congrats u both. Super amazing. Julian mom what was ur gpa? Did u guys have to pay the 38 dollars with ur alternative seats or do u have to pay it now that u are actually officially accepting a seat

I checked about the campus assignments with a program advisor and I was told letters should go out 1 to 2 weeks before orientation. Highest GAS get their first pick.

Hey all! Regarding campus assignments: my theory is that they're waiting for the alternates to send their confirmation letters in. Our confirmation letters are due by October 13th so I'm expecting the assignments some time after that. We did have to pay the $38 and are required to fingerprint/background check before orientation. I dropped off my letter and payed for the fingerprints and background check today. I don't have my HCC ID card yet but I assume I'll need it for orientation. Not sure but might as well. So super excited.
