I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Oh I see. I wonder if you can apply again in spring?! Also scholarship(for the spring semester) application is due on 10/15, if you are interested.

Wait! Are you getting the pell grant for this semester or spring when nursing starts? Because I just talked to financial office and they said the nursing program does not offer pell grant but just federal loans. Also, now that I think about it how much do you think the shot will cost because I don't have insurance :(

As for financial aid, school is school. 10 credit hours are considered qualifications of financial aid. Apply to make sure u get it. I got a student loan this semester to buy my supplies and pay for shots. As for the scholarships HCC has a new system now. Everything is done online. Go to the homepage and in the search box type "scholarship" and fill the application out. Deadline is 10/15 done be discouraged from applying next year also just in case u don't get one t the first time. This is my second time applying because the first time I didn't get picked for a scholarship.

Can anyone ask about these placements, my job officially gave me until Wednesday next week to let them know what day I need to remove from my shift. Without these letters, I have no clue what class they gave me :( I already e mailed the advisor beginning of last week n all I got was 1 to 2 weeks before orientation. This is crucial killer

Wow! Your boss is harsh! Surely they could be understanding that you don't know. Are you removing a day when the program starts or sooner?

To my boss' s words, it sounds like they are taking a day away starting Nov 1st. But I guess because everyone's new schedule has to be submitted asap he is under pressure. If I got the first choice then I will have 1 to 4 DM. The advisor told me for the past 3 springs, the 1 to 4 class has had class on Thursday and friday. Clinical days are either Tuesday or wednesday... which if I talked to my teacher I hope she would be understanding and allow us to choose a day. I also had an interview for a great company, if I'm selected for the position then I will work Saturday and Sundays only. 12 hour shifts both days. This would be perfect for me because I can put in my resignation with my current employer. And focus on school, as long as I get my first pick. So this wait is killing me. I should hear back from the recruiters by end of next week. I really pray I get the position.

I'm in a similar position. I'm a nanny and the lady I work for is getting hired to a new position but before she can tell them when she's available, she needs to know when I am. THIS SUCKS!!! Because the health sciences department also told me that they don't even know the class schedules yet. I hope it's the same as usual so we kind of have an idea of what's going on. But still- I need to know the clinical days! And if I can't know until I meet my teacher or something and they tell us- that's months away!! ***! ughhhh

Exactly. Grrr this affects us in so many ways. If I don't get the new job then I will just stick with what I have and make my time count. They are willing to work with my shift if I tell them now. But looks like me and you both are going to have to cross that bridge when we get to it :[

Silv I am sorry they weren't able to give you more information regarding your campus assignment.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. :) You have a very high GPA and if i'm not mistaken mornings 9am and evenings 5pm are the most popular so I doubt you won't get your first choice.

Hello Silvach24. I went in and talked to the advisor after I got in. She told me that we would find out about the placements and what program (day am, day pm, night) at orientation. She said that they have to do that after the alternates have been picked. Also, just because we applied to one program we might get assigned to another one. I hope we find out sooner.

Were u accepted as an alternate or original? Because another student that was original confirmed today, that the alternates Elo be finding out during orientation while letters for original placements will go out tomorrow or Monday. That student was also kind enough to go the extra mile and get us the vaccine forms to be filled out .. are u a member on Facebook of Hillsborough community college spring nursing

Yes please join us. This is so frustrating at times because we are getting different stories from faculty. Only thing that is close is what I was told and what Stacy was told. They are almost identical. So let's Cross fingers and pray next week Tuesday we get letters.
