I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Application deadline is june 1st. I will be cutting it close as my last exam is on may 6th!

Hello - I'm applying for the nursing program in June as well and I'm super nervous!

Hi and welcome! Thank you for joining. Im very nervous also but excited that this is closing up for me. I have been at HCC for 3 years to prereq classes. Im in last semester. Im taking micro and humanities early history... are u completely done with prereq classes?

Thanks! : ) I'm in my last semester as well...I'm currently taking A&P 2 (lecture), Early American History, Statistics and speech. I keep trying to stay motivated by constantly researching anything related to nursing, lol

Thats great! Im taking early history also at brandon campus... hum 2210. I talked with an advisor yesterday and she said speech and computer arent required because its a program. I dont feel she is correct... ill be taking it anyways.. and she said to graduate from usf a foreign language is required also. So if we xfer to usf it would be better to have taken class at HCC. What are ur goals after u finish the program? Sometimes I find it easing to talk about the future... o and did u know that all nurses has an application? U can load it from the google play store on ur phone for free

Hi all, I was a Spring 2013 applicant for HCC. I was denied due to a non-GPA issue, but some things happened in my life where this denial wasn't the end of the world. Anyway, if you have any questions about my experience, feel free to drop me a line!

No, as I'm currently in a non-Nursing Masters program. Due to that, soonest I would reapply to HCC is Fall 2015, that is after I take MAC1114 to boost my prereq GPA during my summer break from Grad School. :) My offer stands though, any questions about my experience, let me know!

Ok thats great! Sounds like u have a great chance! What was thr lowest gpa in your group that u are aware got in during the spring group? Im currently 3.6 but if I get an A for my micro and in lab ill have a 3.7 but if not, ill get a 3.5

If memory serves I want to say 3.4. 3.6 you should have nothing to worry about, 3.7 should be a definite admission. I had(have) a 3.52 which was on the fence of alternate/accept at the time. This is why I'm taking Trigonometry this summer, since if I get an A, my 3.52 will become 3.67, (it would replace my B in College Algebra) and Fall GPA minimums are much higher than Spring. So you're in a good spot right now.

Btw, Speech and a Computer class are not Prereqs:

Hillsborough Community College - Curriculum Prerequisites

Also-- deadline for Spring is what, June-ish? I will tell you, you won't get an admissions answer until the 3rd week of September or so. And then they only give you ONE WEEK to appeal if anything goes wrong. It's not pretty, if it comes to that.
