I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Welcome! Its always nice being able to have another pre nursing student. Are u planning on going to USF after you graduate HCC? I just came from advisory and I was informed if I want to transfer to usf for my bachelor's, I have to also have an AA degree... does anyone know if this is true?

It should be, because the foundation of any Bachelors degree contains approximately 36 credits of general ed. The ASN at HCC contains approximately 21 credits of Gen Ed, but you're still 15 credits short which is one term at least. Plus you'll need electives too to hit that magic number of 120 credits for the BSN.

Oh man... so this is a major set back on me... I still have 11 classes to finish and 2 of those incude a lab class! Grrr this is never going to end. I feel like im so close and then I get a set back.. this is my last semester for HCC nursing prerequisites.. but now if I aant a higher education I have to do all these other classes. I need a second humanities, 2 integrated science class, I need , phy1053, chm 1045 and 1045 lab, psc 1515, speech, I need a history class, I need another college math stats 2023. Sorry, but this is a super vent!

I was hoping to focus on nursing once I start next spring... this summer I was going to take spanish and fall I am taking speech and spanish 2. But now im thinking I may have to change my plans

I'm not sure how the sequence goes with all of those, but what you need to do if you want to be efficient about this is take 12 credits in summer, preferably 15. Yes that might sound daunting at first but it's not really, as long as you do it like this:

6 credits/2 classes : Summer A (first 6 weeks)

6 credits/2 classes : Summer B (second 6 weeks)

3 credits/1 class: Summer C (full 12 weeks, if you want that 5th class that is).

2.5 classes at a time over 6 weeks is nothing, that is if you're not already aware. Trust me.

PLUS, once again, HCC Nursing gives summers off. There is your perfect window for more classes toward the BSN. Bottom line, this could probably be done no problem and not put you behind for BSN-land, that is only if you do what you need to do to make it happen.

P.S. No one said you immediately have to enroll in BSN classes after HCC either. So there's always that Spring/Summer term right after you graduate from HCC to take more classes toward the BSN, too.

Hello everyone!

I am applying for Spring 2015 as well. Just taking my last prereqs- Anat ll + lab, and college alg.

If I get all A's I will have a 3.7, however if I get a B in Anat lecture or College Algebra I will have a 3.57

It seems that the cut off for Spring is lower than compared to falls. I have been stalking this website lol.

I am just nervous that if for some reason I get two B's this semester and end up with a 3.4 I won't get in :( Does anyone know if a 3.4 would make it for Spring??

Most likely though I will AT LEAST have a 3.57.

Also, I live all the way in Palm Harbor, so my only choice for schools is DM. I am planning on putting DM morning, afternoons, and nights/weekends as my first three choices. Anyone think that will those kind of GPAs I would at least get one of those??

Ugh, sorry, just supper nervous/EXCITED :)))))

It sounds like alot... summers are hardcore. I usually do 3 classes, 1 being a lab, in the regular 16 week semesters. I have a job and 3 kids. I dont feel im up for the challenge of that. I will however have to take them. Like u said I can take them while im waiting to be hired and during the summers .. while in the program. But I dont think I would take that many credits at once. Can I get an associates in arts? Or does it have to be allied health?

Hi and welcome! So my advisor said I would be good with a 3.4 GPA . IM IN THE SAME BOAT. If I get 2 A's this semester ill be at 3.7 but if I get one A and one B ill be a 3.5 so getting two B's is not an option for me. I expect great things and I am really hard on myself if I dont succeed or try harder. I have tendencies to postpone study time till the end. I am getting better. I use to wait 2 days before test to study. Now im at a week. Im gradually breaking old habits. Because in nursing that is not going to fly.

Gardius, do you know if night time is selected as a choice, if the clinicals are done at that time also? Or is it the same for everyone on clinicals. 6am till 4pm

Thank you : ) I always go to Starbucks in hopes of finding a coffee that will give me energy but it never really works for me so I say forget it and just end up getting Dunkin Donuts and spending 2 bucks as opposed to 4 bucks, lol! but ill def give that one a try tomorrow or maybe tonight so I can get a good study session in!
