I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Why yes, as Night/Weekend is the only thing I can do if I'm accepted: 5pm-8pm Mon/Wed, Clinicals Saturday. When you get to 3rd term you'll add Mental Health Nursing, which will probably squeeze in on that Tuesday. Same times but one hour less.

Afternoons: 1pm-4pm Thurs/Fri. Clinicals Tuesday or Wednesday just like Morning peeps, my guess is everyone is thrown together simultaneously.

Thank u for the info that is super helpful. Ill probably be going to afternoon. So I can study before test in the day time and stay up late while being able to sleep in. Meanwhile making it home in time for my sons father to go to work.

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing in the application process or in finishing your classes? I'm doing very well in microbiology ... I'm confident ill pass with an A and an A in the lab. So looks like I'm going in with a 3.7 yay

I'm assuming this because we have taken 2 test and first test I got 100% and 2nd test I received a 98% ... we have 3 more test to go.

What really helped me in a&p2 is read the chapters and review the chapter summary. As u read the chapter make notes and flash cards. Anything you dont understand, watch avideo about it on youtube. Draw pictures of the anatomy and then label what the functions of each is. As funny as it sounds my favorite was the male and female reproductive system. This was because during that chapter is where I learned to study. Ever since I have been doing so well. O and one more tip. Teach it to someone. You learn as you teach, and it stays in your head like a repeated record after you have heard it via the book, the leacture, you lo ictures, the videos, the flashcards, and teaching it. I know it sounds like alot and it is, but try abd meet up with a study group of no more then 2 other people. I found that to many people in a group leads to chit chat. And you waste your time.

Yes, flash cards helped me like whoa when I took A&P 1 + 2 in Summer and Fall 2011, respectively. MAKE YOUR OWN, don't buy them, because as you write them yourself you will wind up remembering the movement of your pen (that is, you will remember the definitions because you wrote them down). There were countless times when I went to the "quiet rooms" in the library and literally spent an hour+ going through my flash card decks repeatedly. Walked out of both A&Ps with a B and A, respectively, so I think something worked...

Hey gradius, I have been debating on just going to usf as an undergraduate in lower division, ill have my AA next year spring them I could be an upper division. And get my BSN in 2 years plus 1 year of waiting n my last semester to finish my AA at HCC vs my ASN in 2 years then having to apply to USF for the RN-BSN and spend another year and half getting my BSN. What is your opinion on this? I never been to a University and the school is so big. The program is competitive what If I don't get in, making me waist a year when I could have been in the nursing program at HCC.

Hello all. I am just starting my prerequisites and hope to apply next year. I have 2 children and will be relocating from the Gainesville area for school. This thread was/is a great idea!!!!

One question I had- can I do my prerequisites at Santa Fe here in Gainesville and then apply to the nursing program? Of course, if the credits will transfer.

Yes. As long as all prerequisite are met then u can apply. Is based on GPA so the higher the better. What is your GPA?

I haven't started yet....but years ago when I obtained my first AAS it was around 3.4. I have to take all the prerequisites other than english and probably college algebra. So hopefully I can get it up some.

Yes u differently want it higher because the program is very competitive. U can get a list of everything u need on the hcc website. Apply to the college and get a student id. U can print it yourself and then pick the classes u need to do then when your ready to transfer. . U Elo be ahead of the game

Yes I want to get it up for sure. Do you know how I would go about starting my prerequisites at a different school? One close to my home now? I understand that a student cant enroll at two different schools. Id really like to take my prerequisites here in Gainesville then apply to the nursing program. I have applied to hcc but have to turn in transcripts.
