I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

hey there Gradius..did you apply before completing your prereq and got denied? I wasn't sure of your backstory sorry! how many class was left for you before applying for the admission of nursing and got denied, if you don't mind me asking...

I finished my prereqs following Spring 2012 semester, I was already done with them prior to applying for Spring 2013. I was denied due to a non-prereq issue. (Turned out not being a big deal since it put me in a position to apply to ABSN programs at the time, but I digress) Nonetheless, if I were applying now to HCC for this Spring 2015 term, I wouldn't take my chances... wait till Spring 2014 grades are posted about a week into May, and then apply by the June 1 deadline. Plenty of time in that month.

yea I might do that then..

are you guys excited or tensed to apply??

Im excited but nervous about finding a job with just an asn degree.. im hoping I just get lucky and someone at a hospital will give me a shot

oh don't worry about that part. we will know people by then..i'm not sure are you doing some other degree now? I read a little about that part last time..I'm sorry i just get the gist of stuff and don't go all in detail...r u doing something else now?

Well right now im working on my AA also so I can graduate with both degrees. And im working on usf prerequisite for their nursing. So I cant transfer to their bsn program, but I want to be working as a nurse while im in school at usf. I was going to apply now but I dont have a second language under my belt and I hvent taken the SAT yet. But I need 2 semesters of a foreign language because I never took anything in high school

i hear u..but if you finish nursing in Hcc you can always go to SPC for their BSN program which i have heard is really good..just in case Usf has some issues..!

Why do an RN-BSN when you can do an RN-MSN? ;)

I was looking at that too... is very competitive and if I can't find work with an asn then I won't have any experience under Me too include with my application so im more likely to be denied entrance. . But I want to do the rn to msn with my bsn included. . But I have to have my foreign language for it. Which ill have no problem with because I'm getting a second language any ways via HCC

Many programs grant you a BSN "along-the-way" but I've discovered some don't. Make sure to pick one that does that so you at least get something en route, just in case the costs of grad school slow things down or anything like that...

hopefully we all will get in and things will go smoothly. Just hang in there SILVACH...u will be surprised where you could get a job..there are lot of people hiring..
