I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?
@jessiab - with the deadline for spring being June 1, there is not really any time to take or retake classes. Some people have said that if you take a higher math class, it will replace w/e your current math is. But if you already have an A in it, that wouldn't help. Also, I don't even know if this is 100% true, haven't checked with advising. Either way, deadline is in a month.
Yes I do realize that it is too late but I may consider a registering for a higher math class if I don't get in for Spring...I think I got a "b" in my math. Not sure how much that will raise my GPA but it might be just enough to push me over.

Mine will raise by 0.15 once I take Trig this summer, and assuming I get an A. Use that for a reference.

Actually, there is time before June 1 to up your GPA, for the SUPER willing and studious. But you'd better be prepared to spend your whole month of May focused on Math. I found this, enroll anytime, online Independent Study Math classes:
Have you verified that the credits are accepted by HCC?
No, I'm not applying for Spring 2015 so I don't need this. I've been participating on this thread to share my insights from my experience as a Spring and Fall 2013 applicant which from what I've seen has been well-received, at least initially. :) That and who knows, I can learn new things by the time I am ready to apply to HCC again as a Fall 2015 applicant in the class behind you once my current degree program I'm in is done come next year.
That said, about the UND classes I mentioned above, I will only say this: being that it is a state-run, public accredited university, as opposed to those sketchy places like Kaplan, Keiser and what not, I wouldn't be concerned with credit acceptance if anyone were adventurous enough to try this. I would HIGHLY recommend taking a month-long leave of absence from work if anyone wanted to do this though. If anyone were to do that, a math class could be done in a month-- hell, Summer A tends to be 6 weeks, what's shaving 2 weeks off that? Nothing as long as you have no outside distractions.
Keep in mind the average 3-credit class is supposed to be 48 hours total. 4 credits would be "64 lecture hours" if you want to get precise. Once again this could be done, but you'd have to be super, super hardcore about it. The key thing to remember is this: if you get denied, you'll just be delayed 6 more months, and Fall Term's floor GPA will be higher than Spring's, I can promise you that. Plus Fall 2015 applicants will have the TEAS test to worry about. So Spring 2015 is your best shot. Thus, you'd have to decide if you would want to attempt this at all. If you try though, you need to take the first steps tomorrow. June 1 is five weeks away.
Finally, to anyone on this thread that wants confirmation that a math class higher than MAC1105 (College Algebra) is accepted, see here:

Hi guys! My name is Leroy M. Just wanted to stop by and say hi...Just an FYI i wasn't sure if anyone mentioned this in their post or not. you can apply before you get your grades like well in advance 2 or 3 months but they won't process it until june 1st..this is good for two reasons, first being elevating the tension of applying...like getting it out of the way kind of deal and secondly, if you make a mistake they will address it or inform you via email. So I would strongly apply now before june 1st. Hope it helps any question do shoot me an email.
Thanks n best of luck
Leroy
How can you apply if u dont include ur unofficial transcript. ..
Yeah um... SILVACH24 you're right. HCC will only take people who have COMPLETED prereqs. If you send in transcripts that don't have completed prereqs and everything else "checked off" so to speak, you will be denied. Trust me, I was the first time I applied.
hey again from the nursing advisor who told me if you have like one class left say for example A&p 2 and lab ( which is your last prereq) you can apply well before the grades come in because Hcc will go back and see the transcript you don't need an official transcript from them..this applies to people who are taking the class in Hcc..but if you're taking class in other college like spc or phcc you need to complete those and submit the transcript. And this was what my nursing advisor said..she told me you can apply 30 days before, but they actually will only start processing on June 1st by then the grades are up and you won't need to send in their transcript..
@ Silvach- it is ok let me know if you need that advisor info.

The TEAS test is only a requirement with a 60% passing but I don't think they will be using it as deciding on placement. I am assuming that they would still be just using our pre-requisite GPA with over GPA being a tie breaker. Also it is not a requirement until applying for fall 2015...right? Please someone correct me if I am wrong. I am a good test taker so I'm not worried about taking it. However I keep becoming more and more invested and getting no reward. I just hope that eventually I get in but every time I apply it is another 6 months to wait to apply if I don't get in. It is getting frustrating. I really want to be a nurse.
