Hello all,
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
When you say you emailed the health dept, do you mean the nursing manager or someone else? I just want to know so I email the right person, just want to make sure my background check went through to them.
That was about 2 weeks ago that i emailed them. Just send an email to [email protected] and they will respond back to you withing 24hrs. They say in the letter they sent us that it could take up to 10 days to get results but they had mine completed within 48hrs.
Hi everyone. I haven't posted in this thread yet, but I also applied to the Spring semester. The letter I received said I would be considered as an alternate. Does anyone have any further information about alternate status? When we might expect to know more? Although I am glad not to have been turned down outright (my GPA was just under 3.5 - would have been great except for a "C" in Sociology from 10 years ago), I hate the additional waiting.
Hi anditut...I would expect alternates to start getting notices mid to late November at the earliest. I've read even that some alternates get notified the week before class starts, it all depends on what # you are on the alternate list. Good Luck to you,I hope you make it in.....
Nice to meet you tonight, aaravi.I didn't get a chance to say hi, icaspe
I'll introduce myself at orientation..
Tonight's class was interesting and I enjoyed it. A lot has changed since I last took a CPR class years ago..
Yeah...maybe we can all sit by each other at orientation. I think I figured out who Rosaly and Felix were. I remember you (DCrux) from the fingerprinting incident :) I was so ready to go....long day!

It was a long day. I hear you. Yup, Felix and Rosaly are easy to spot (and I'm usually somewhere in tow most times). They do a good job of keeping me sane and teaching me things.
Let's definitely do try to meet up and hang out for a bit at orientation -- I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.
Next up, orientation and a month-long break. I can't wait!
