I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and dedication so far!! I've really enjoyed reading your posts. I am in my second semester of prereqs with A's so far. I am taking prereqs for both SPC and HCC and applying to Radiation Therapy school as a backup plan but I really want to get into RN school. The way my courses and the deadlines fall, I won't be able to apply to HCC RN until Spring of 2015 but I can apply to SPC in Fall of 14. I'm terrified my GPA will slip and I'm also terrified of taking Algebra, AP2 and Statistics at once with one other course dependent on my path. Next spring semester I have my last Algebra remedial course, Micro and AP1 which officially starts my difficult coursework. However, I'm thoroughly looking forward to the challenge.

Hi, I wanted to start as soon as possible too so I took micro, algebra, ap1, and psychology all in the same semester on top of having 3 school age children at home. I had multiple people telling me it was too much to take at one time, but I'm proud to say ingot into the nursing program with a 4.0 gpa. It's all in how much you want it. Bc I have kids, I don't have time to lose taking it slow, I needed to get into the program ASAP! put your mind to it, remember why you're doing it, and you'll succeed! Good luck to you :)
I'm in!!!! 3rd times a charm! I forgot to check the mail Wednesday and was on here yesterday biting my nails reading that the alternate letters went out. I got home and opened the mailbox to see a letter from HCC! I thought I was going to pass out from the anxiety! LOL! I'm so excited to be amongst you all! Can't wait until JANUARY! I have a friend in the LPN-RN program now so I get a bit of insight from her. She said it's madness but worth it! Congrats to all. I will be celebrating this weekend!
