I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
Okay...lets see now....How much is it going to cost me in uniforms and supplies before we even start the program? Uniforms $150 Stethoscope $140, shoes $70, pen light $5, scissors $5, Tax $30, and finally the Nursing Book Package $611, Total = $1011, and that does'nt include any of the vacination shots since my insurance covered that. Also,I still want to get a new Ipad to use in class so thats another $500 or $600 depending on the model i decide to get. Then there is that thing called tuition that needs to be paid before class starts thats another $1100, for a GRAND TOTAL of $2700 before day 1 of NP1. Just wanted to share my pain with everyone..:)[/quote']

On another note...they should be working on campus assignments now since the deadline to turn in the acceptance form was yesterday.

It will probably be a couple weeks before we get campus assignments. They normaly send them 1 or 2 weeks before orientation. I hope i get Night/Weekends because thats my only option since i need to continue working full time during the program.

Yeah, I'm hoping for nights as well. At least we are in the home stretch now! I wonder why orientation is later this year. 5 more weeks!

You forgot all the supplemental books $300 so that brings you to $3000 ;-)

GREAAATTTTTT.......So the new GRAND TOTAL is now $3,000. Thank GOD I planned accordingly throughout the year in anticipation of this added expense, or my family would not of been happy this Chrstmas.
On another note: Just got confirmation from the health science dept that my background check came back clear and im good to go for orientation next month. See you all in 5 weeks...:)
P.S. Not that i was worried. I just wanted to make sure they didnt talk to my 11th grade teacher and find out how many times i played hookie from class. Or that mean old man that lives behind my house that hates my guts because my dog almost took a chunk out of him when he tried to retrieve a ball from my yard. :)
I was balancing my checkbook tonight and took a look at the voided check for the fingerprinting that HCC did. When I pulled up the image for the check, I noticed that HCC wrote:
My Social Security Number
My Driver's Licence Number
... on the face of my check. So now anyone who would be up to no good has my name, SSN, Driver's Licence number, and address. The only thing missing is my date of birth and 'Sally Bank Teller' could open up any sort of credit in my name that they wanted too.

***!!!! Thats so NOT good. They did the same thing to me! Im not okay with that and im going to let them know, that should not be permited. There are confidentiality clauses that they need to follow to prevent that type of nonsense.
Who is going to be the NP1 teacher for nights/weekends at the DM campus for Spring 2014? I cant find any info for Prof. N/A on ratemyproffesor.com:) I hope its not going to be a new teacher to the program.
