Hello all,
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it tonight for the meetup. My daughter is having teething issues and is currently being a little satan. My Sister-In-Law would kill me if I dropped her off like this. Ya'll have a good time and have a beer for me.
I totaly understand. Im just going to stop in for 1 or 2 drinks to say hello then im going to the movies with the wife.
On Wednseday 10/9 HCC will have the Spring 2014 classes available for viewing only, they will open for registration on the 14th. Remember, DONT try to register for any Nursing classes until after Orientation at the end of November. At least we can take a look to see what the class schedules will be like. Im interested in checking what days of the week the NP1 nights/weekend class will be meeting since that is my first and only option.

I have been checking since last week because I was curious about the days as well.
FX (and perhaps others that I might have missed along the line):
I don't know if you've heard of the AAMN or not -- heck, I hadn't until today when I was talking a few fellow male nursing students in my Ethics class -- but you might want to check them out. Its a professional organization for male nurses. The website address is:
American Assembly for Men in Nursing - AAMN

I'm going to join right after my National Student Nurse Association membership goes through. I learned the hard way in my last career to join as many professional organizations as I could early on. It really does help with networking and establishing yourself in your chosen field. If I would have joined the IEEE quicker after starting my Software Development career, I could have landed so many jobs!
This goes double for honor societies and academic societies (like Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, and Alpha Epsilon Delta) -- all of which have helped me through this journey towards Spring '14!
I'm not making the same mistake twice!
Anyhow FX (and any other fellow "Murses"), take a look. For our fellow non-Murses, I highly recommend checking out Phi Theta Kappa for scholarships. They have many that are focused towards health sciences, not to mention the general scholarship towards USF and many other regional schools for your BSN/MSN/DNP.. you qualify to apply based solely on membership to the society.
Enjoy your week!

I took mine late on Tuesday,I think everyone else took their earlier so I'll wait til Monday to check again,I'm not too worried though because my account summary says I paid $91, I'm guessing it's the $38 plus $53.
