Hello all,
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
How does one acquire these 'school-wives'? Does that come in an orientation kit that I never received? Purely for research purposes of course...Thanks for the laugh.. :)
Well you take a few classes together, become lab partners, laugh together when things are funny, stress together when things go bad,and compete to see who has the highest grade on every test.and then you've achieved a school marriage. :-P

I figured it was time to loosen up a bit and make everyone laugh.:) Juleby1987 and I were lab partners during AP1 & AP2 and became good friends. We had a friendly competition throughout AP1& AP2 that pushed us both to do our best each week. I always looked forward to when we got our test results back to see who got the better score and bragging rights for that week. We had a really cool group in our class that worked well together and always helped each other when needed. I look forward to having an equally cool group of class-mates to share these next 2 years together.
A few of us that have taken class at south shore chose south shore as our number one ad plant city as number 2. We live in sun city and Bradenton area so dale mabry is a ways out there. Yes 4.0 wasn't easy but I wanted to make sure I had the best chance possible. I'm a mother of 3 and I need to get through this in the first shot! My mom has been a nurse for 25+ years and has always said 4.0 has to be your goal or you're taking a huge chance.

That's awesome! I had something similar in A&P I and it was a ton of fun.. there is nothing better than people helping and gently pushing you towards excellence. I would be stoked to find something similar in our cohort.

Nice Jheard -- nice to meet you! Congrats on your 4.0 (3.7 here)! I put Evenings/Weekends as my first choice, and South Shore as #2 (I'm in Bradenton/Sarasota so it would be quite a bit closer than cruising over to Dale Mabry). Welcome to our little home..
well, i was accepted into the fall 2013 semester of nursing. i had a 3.69 gpa and was actually an alternate. that just goes to show that the competition is real!
Congrats ile375.....Im glad you made it in. Being an alternate has to be very stressful, since you have to wait even longer to see if you make it in. Im expecting the Spring 2014 class to be equally competitive when it comes to acceptance GPA, thats why i worked so hard these last couple semesters (4.0) to make sure i gave myself the best chance to get in. We have about another 5 weeks remaining before our class finds out if we made it or not. Let us know how things are going for you throughout the semester so we know what to expect when we get there.....Good Luck
Juleby
