U.S.A. Florida

Hello all,

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.

What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.

okay so I logged into blackboard and saw the message from the Teacher for DM afternoon class... I read message responded to it and now I can't find it anywhere? Can anyone clue me where it went? It also had our reading assignment on it.

Specializes in Neuro ICU.

I just heard that Mrs Mo. (Mogilewski) is teaching the NW weekend class. She was my clinical instructor for NP1 and was awesome. She's a really sweet lady, and cares about her students. You'll love her as a teacher, especially compared to some of the other teachers.

Thanks I appreciate you letting us know. Im curious since it's a n/we class when were your labs?

Thanks for the info on Mrs Mogilewski. I was a little worried about her since the only reviews on her are a couple years old.

Specializes in Operating Room.

N&W: check blackboard for a msg. Seems like the prof changed? Msg says clinical (lab) on 11th...I thought they sd at orientation that it would be a couple weeks in...maybe I misunderstood.

Where on blackboard is the message? I dont see it. I saw that they changed the DM N/W teacher to S. Coleman / J. Mogelwski, im guessing one will be lecture and the other for clinicals. Blackboard now has some docs available to review so i started going over them yesterday. Hopefuly she will send out an official email soon with reading assignments, until then i went ahead and started reading the first couple chapters in Nursing Fundamentals and i will start med calculations on Monday. Only 3 weeks remaining before we start.

I went into the class then clicked on tools. Then there is a course message link. It's not going to be Coleman. The name was Cullings. They don't have their own email yet so they are using her stuff. They (not sure if male or female) said to read chps 29, 28 and 39 in Potter and Perry.

Thank you, I got it. Now im really confused, is our lecture teacher going to be Cullings, Mogelewski, or Coleman? Ohh well, I guess we will find out for sure in 3 weeks. Time to get back to the reading assignments. See you soon.

Same here. I've been too busy with all the reading assignments and medical dosage book to really look at everything though so I will have to do that this coming weekend.

I remember during orientation that the Plant City SNA said they were thinking of doing a work shop for incoming NP1 students (All campus welcomed). Let me know if they send out any info on that, i would like to go.

Hello everyone!

I am looking into applying to the LPN-RN transition at Hillsborough. The deadline is January 15th! I need to really decide if I am going to apply or not. I have an appointment tomorrow with the director of nursing. I am in a very very bad predicament! I attended Herzing University in Orlando, FL. They have a Kaplan nursing school exit exam which you have to pass with a 68 or higher! Ridiculous! I didn't pass! Of course, they have somewhat changed it since I have left!! Anyways, on my third attempt I received a score of 65! Ugh! Three questions away!!! Fourth attempt I did even worse! Really upsetting! The director of nursing at Herzing told me that my only option was basically go back to NS all over again excluding clinicals! Nursing 3,4,5,6, and 8! Pretty much like an LPN-RN transition. I think its really bad to not have clinicals for a whole another year! From a true floor nurse perspective that's not good! Anyways, I know Hillsborough has a Hesi exit exam. I was just wondering if any of you knew what score you have to achieve to pass it? How many attempts you have to take it? What is the NCLEX-pass rate for Hillsborough? I am definitely doing my research on NS now because of what has happened to me!

Thanks!!!
