  1. Yes, I can retake class. But, what if I don't pass again? I don't want to be in nursing school anymore! I need to start working!
  2. I just failed my final exam in nursing 4 at a community college which was my last semester of nursing school!! I ended up with a 74.4 and needed a 75% to pass!! Before I started nursing school at the community college which by the way I was in the LPN to RN transition program I was at a private school in Orlando in a generic ADN program so, this was my second go around in nursing school!! I am having some serious thoughts about not continuing and going a different route but, stay in the health care field because its all I know at this point. I am 28 years old and don't have any experience under my belt so, I am worried about getting a job if I continue in nursing. I am really really worried that employers are really go to frown up the fact that I have been in nursing school for almost 4 years and I don't have any experience! Anyways, I am just wondering what are some other options in the health care field that I can look into? I know there is respiratory therapy, dental hygiene? I am feeling very lost and overwhelmed! don't know what to do... I thought nursing was my passion but, I can't seem to get past nursing school! Your probably thinking that this girl is crazy for being in nursing school for almost 4 years!! I just want to get my degree!!
  3. Also, I wanted to add that they allowed multiple people to appeal and take the mock or nursing school exit exam a fifth time. I appealed and they wouldn't let me take it a fifth time!! I am a very good student and work very hard!! Please do not go to this school its wrong what they are doing to the students!! They have a high instructor turnover rate! It's a shame that the instructors don't speak up and say anything!!
  4. Hello everyone! I am looking into applying to the LPN-RN transition at Hillsborough. The deadline is January 15th! I need to really decide if I am going to apply or not. I have an appointment tomorrow with the director of nursing. I am in a very very bad predicament! I attended Herzing University in Orlando, FL. They have a Kaplan nursing school exit exam which you have to pass with a 68 or higher! Ridiculous! I didn't pass! Of course, they have somewhat changed it since I have left!! Anyways, on my third attempt I received a score of 65! Ugh! Three questions away!!! Fourth attempt I did even worse! Really upsetting! The director of nursing at Herzing told me that my only option was basically go back to NS all over again excluding clinicals! Nursing 3,4,5,6, and 8! Pretty much like an LPN-RN transition. I think its really bad to not have clinicals for a whole another year! From a true floor nurse perspective that's not good! Anyways, I know Hillsborough has a Hesi exit exam. I was just wondering if any of you knew what score you have to achieve to pass it? How many attempts you have to take it? What is the NCLEX-pass rate for Hillsborough? I am definitely doing my research on NS now because of what has happened to me! Thanks!!!
  5. Anybody who is reading this DO NOT attend this school!! Take it from a student's perspective .. They don't have a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX as of right now!! It is expensive!! You can go to a state college or university and receive the same or better education and it will be a lot cheaper!! They use Kaplan for their main standardized testing for each nursing course.. The instructors do not teach you anything coming from Kaplan!! If you don't pass your exit exam the first two times you take a remediation course that is a complete joke and waste of time!! The instructor doesn't teach you anything that you don't already know!! During remediation class one time we had to make a stupid video using the school's PRICE model!! I am sorry but, if you ask me that has NOTHING to do with a nursing school exit exam!! Complete waste of time!! If you plan on staying in the Orlando area you will have a very difficult time trying to get a job in a hospital!! Florida hospital and ORMC will not hire Herzing University graduates because they know that they have a bad reputation and don't have good clinical experience!! I could have gone back to Herzing University to get my degree after I didn't pass my exit exam but, I wouldn't have any clinical experience what so ever for a whole another year!! That doesn't look good from an actual true floor nurse perspective!! DO YOUR RESEARCH AND GET A NURSING STUDENTS PERSPECTIVE ON THE PROGRAM BEFORE YOU START!! If I would have known all this before I started I would have never gone to Herzing University in the first place!! Don't waste your time and money on this school!!
  6. I am literally in the process of taking my PN boards.. I should receive my ATT this week! I know nursing school is tough!! Trust me when I was at Herzing I didn't have a life what so ever!! I don't think nursing school should be easy by any means! I just want to make sure that I don't go to a school to where the instructors literally fail you for every lil insurmountable thing possible! I have read a couple negative comments about the Demo's.. I am worried because I currently don't have any true floor nurse experience besides practicum and clinicals which its sad to say I didn't have a very good preceptor for my practicum either.. Trust me, I am the type of person that will study a lot but, I don't want to be getting only 3-4 hours of sleep every single night because I will get exhausted and burnt out really easily.. Also, I am not too worried about the NCLEX at this point either because I have literally practiced over 5,000 application and analysis questions which are the highest level of questions in nursing.. I have done everything possible from the Hurst Review, Pearson, and Kaplan to study for the NCLEX.. By the time I finish LPN to RN transition school and start heavily studying for the NCLEX-RN again I should pass with flying colors! Anyways, I am not trying to sound snotty or be rude by any means.. If I came across that way I apologize! I am just kinda upset about my situation currently.. I just want to really get an idea for how Broward College Nursing is before I apply and I feel like the best way to do that is to get an actual nursing students opinion because you are the one that's sitting in the hot seat every day.. Thanks!!:)
  7. Hello, Those of you who are already in the Broward College Nursing Program it would be greatly appreciated if you could reply. :-) I am in a predicament where know nursing student ever wants to be!! I went through nursing school at Herzing University in Orlando, FL. It's a private institution and very expensive! Anyone else who is reading this I recommend that you DO NOT attend this program!! I made A's and B's throughout the program and because they have a nursing school exit exam that I didn't pass. I wasn't authorized to go and take the NCLEX-RN. So, basically my only option was to go through nursing school all over again. Not to mention the fact that they have a high instructor turnover rate and the instructors do not teach you besides my OB/Peds professor who was very good. Anyways, I just wanted to get an idea on how the actual Broward College LPN to RN transition program is. Are the instructors helpful in any way shape or form?? Is there an exit exam that you have take?? How are the clinicals?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! At this point in the game I am doing a lot of research on nursing schools before I attend another one!! I hate the fact that I was so incredibly close to actually becoming a registered nurse and it was all taken away from me in an instant!! It's really frustrating to find out at the end of the program that this is happening to students!! I wish someone would have told me from the get go that this could possibly happen! I would have never gone to Herzing in the first place! All they want is your money!! Anyways, I am sorry for the ranting its just really heart breaking to be so close... The main reason why I am posting this is because I have read a couple negative comments from other people about Broward College Nursing which really worries me especially after what I have been through.
  8. Jdoyle, Can you please tell me some more information about PSC HESI exit exam?? What do you need to score in order to graduate and go take your state boards?? How many attempts do you have?? I am possibly looking at applying to PSC.. I went to another nursing school that had an exit exam and I didn't end up passing so, I am currently looking into doing LPN to RN transition.. Thanks!!
  9. I attended Herzing University in Orlando, FL. We had to take a Kaplan exit exam. The score that we had to get was a 68 or higher. I ended up with a 65. I was three questions away from passing!! I did everything under the sun to try and pass that exit exam!! I took the diagnostic and received a score of 72! I am now where no nursing student ever wants to be!! I am looking at other schools to attend so, that I can do an LPN to RN transition.. Don't feel bad that you didn't pass it doesn't mean that you don't know anything.. Keep your chin up!!:-)
