Hillsborough Community College Fall 2017

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Is anyone else planning on applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program? I know it is really early, but I am just too excited. I want other people to share my excitement with!! :)

Dark hair, blue button-down with aviator sunglasses tucked in my shirt. We were all moving pretty quickly along so we didn't have that much time for socializing anyway. But that's okay. And yea, I have DM afternoons and will be attending clinicals at Florida Hospital in Carrollwood. Not sure who else is going to be there. Seems like the majority of the people I talked to had either mornings / evening classes. Was happy to see a lot of other dudes there. Hit me up here or PM if you have afternoons. Looking for a study group.

I will PM you.

Fall 2017 Dale Mabry Afternoon Cohort, I made a facebook group for those who hasn't already joined. Please join. :)

I have a couple questions!

1. Are you given clinical sites or do you have say in where you go? I live 15 minutes from both Tampa General and St. Joseph's, so I definitely would want to go there instead of Carrollwood or something lol.

2. Did a lot of people in your class create study groups?

3. I heard someone say you need to wear white tops for lectures. Is that true or can we were what we want? (I know you have uniforms for Lab and Clinical).

4. Can you do labs whenever? I see open lab is usually 10-2, so if I have morning classes 9-12 could I go straight to lab and be there like 12:30-2? Or should I go on a day I don't have class or clinical?

I am applying for Spring 2018, but I have so many questions lol

I can't answer everything for you since we haven't started yet but I can help you with some...

Clinicals are selected for you. You get no say whatsoever.

We haven't started class so I don't know about study groups.

We are to be in uniform WheTher it be for lecture, clinical, or lab. The only difference is our white scrub top doesn't need the embroidery when on campus. It must be embroidered for clinicals.

Lab hours vary but I have seen the lab open from 8-8 so you just need to make time to get your skills marked off. You could go whenever you choose but need a minimum of 2 hours each visit for it to count. I plan on going after class.

Hope that helps. :-)

1. You have no say in your clinical site. They told us we would be in same place all throughout the program but that is not the case. My clinical group stayed the same but we are in Florida Hospital Tampa now. We were in Carrollwood last semester. And the south bay kids got moved to Sunday at TGH while they originally started Saturday at South Bay.

2. Not in my class but that's due to time. Most of the evening/weekend works so we study at work or elsewhere alone. I never studied in a group.

3. You have to wear your scrubs to everything now. I went once to open lab without my scrubs and got reamed for it.

4. You can go to open lab whenever there is an instructor listed there. The lab times are posted on the schedule. Usually open till 8 pm on most days.

Thank you!!!

So should I order the white scrub top from like Amazon or Walmart or something to save money since it doesn't have to have the HCC embroidery?

Sorry for the questions!! I'm trying to save as much as possible and need to start my budget :)

Our class has not had the best relationship with the administration so I'm a little bias but it's been disorganized and a mess for us. But we still have everyone pushing through. Mornings and afternoons have had it better.

Thank you!!!

Don't buy anything until you're admitted. We all got our scrubs from the same place (allabourscrubs) before we started.

2 more questions lol sorry!!

1. Do they chose your days for you (like Monday/Tuesday lecture and Thursday clinical) or can you chose to be Thursday/Friday lecture and Tuesday Clinical?

2. What hours are clinical

thanks guys :)

Thank you!!!

There are local uniform shops that sell basic scrub tops for $5! You'll have to buy the embroidered one through the vendor and it's like $18. For the pants you could find them other places too. They just have to match color. Some places have them for $5-$10 but you have to stay looking because the go fast.

I'm glad you guys are pushing through!!! I read that your teacher was new. Is that why it's been difficult?

And yeah I definitely will not buy anything before hand!!! I'm just a huge planner lmao and want to make sure I have enough money when the time comes.
