Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
Hey all! Anyone who was offered an alternate option, I thought you might be interested in knowing that they will be mailing out more acceptance letters in 1 - 2 weeks. The number of seats offered to alternates will be based on two things, 1. How many applicants did not accept their nursing seat and 2. How many seats that were left for appeals were not approved of. They've also told me that there is no way of knowing where you are on the alternate list.In the meantime, I've completed my MTI application, physical, vaccinations and essay for their program that begins in July.
Fairy007, I'm considering PHCC once I obtain my LPN because their bridge program is only a year long. :)
I file an appeal today and the counselor told me, those who have a 3.619 down to 3.523 GPA are the only ones who were offered an Alternate seat and below than that is denied and that number who is offered an Alternate seat is 50 Students. The lowest GPA who got a seat to the program is 3.668 this Fall 2011. They've also told me that there is no way of knowing where you are on the alternate list too. I'm shocked and couldn't believe it. Things are that looking good for me since i have a 3.57 GPA, even those who have higher GPA like 3.619 were offered an Alternate this Fall 2011.
That's insane Tthorton! I seriously hope that's true, but who knows. Do you think some people just would rather be contacted by mail or don't have email set up with HCC? Maybe they weren't students prior to applying for nursing school? I'm playing devil's advocate, but don't get me wrong, I would much rather get my two years out of the way at HCC, that way I wouldn't have to jump from one school to the next.
I just never imagined that a 3.57 wouldn't be good enough... Still hoping it will be!
I do not know if you can base anything off of this, but when they sent out the emails the other day on the corrected orientation dates, it was only sent to 50 people. So, is that all that accepted their seats.
I counted mine and it was a lot more than 53! I counted 124... and as far as the cut off is concerned.... Wow.. I guess it went up this year! I'm excited for this fall and I'm sure you'll be with us @eyoung. I mean, a lot of people decline last minute for ALL reasons and you should be pretty high up on the list. See you guys in June!!!

I counted mine too. I lost track a little bit, but I know I had at least 114 and it may have been 124. I can't believe I counted all of those!!
tthornton, maybe your hawkmail account isn't showing all of the cc'd email accounts. I had to expand the list on my yahoo account. I just noticed that there is an email on my list that has tthornton as part of the address. I'm guessing that's you. I really hope that everyone on this board gets in. It really seems like there are a bunch of great people on here. I can't wait to meet everyone.
