Hillsborough Community College Fall 2011

Published

Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.

I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?

What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?

Well if you are a CRNA you hope every case is boring, very very boring....

Good point but you know as well as I do that no matter what job, you start to get used to it and then complacency hits. I've seen professionals get so blah about people because they get so used to everything. I'm just sayin' that I don't wish for a "boring" day to be a good day I guess.

Hello everyone! I put my acceptance form in the drop box at Dale Mabry on March 23rd, does anyone know if and when, we will hear that those were received? I did my background check on the 26th, but have not heard anything from that either.

I'm in the same boat as you...I should have put a post card in the package, but we'll just have to wait for the the checks to clear.

Me too, but I did not even think about it.

I got an email from the background check site. I'd say don't fret about. If you're worried call the school but there's no use in getting anxious. Use it to start reading up on the NP1 text!

Planning to start getting my pre-req. out of the way so I can get my RN. Long way yet from any full time nursing schooling lol. Had the math and english's. Think I have to retake sociology. Any tips on who NOT to take for A&P 1??

didi768, I agree with the earlier post, Athena Smith online for Sociology!!! It's a breeze!! I took Dr. Jones at Plant City campus for A&P I &II. She is a very good professor. She's presses her students to learn!! I really appreciate her instructional method!!

anybody in here attending with a prior degree? i have a ****** GPA from my bachelor in business, but at a 3.8 with their listed "prerequisites". from what i understand (per admin. assistant) , it is prerequisites only? i do not trust these office workers...

Anyone start to look into the BLS course yet ? HCC says that the AHA is the preferred organization for CPR, however the private training companies say they follow AHA guidelines. I'd like to go to one the private ones as they teach after work on a weekday from 6:00pm - 10:00pm, but I don't want HCC to reject the training either... Any advice or knowledge relative to what HCC will accept ?

HCC Continuing Ed offers day or night 4-hour CPR classes that are AHA certified:

I'm sure there are plenty of other options, but I took this class earlier this year, and I'm hoping it meets the nursing program requirements. They gave me an AHA Healthcare Provider card certifying me for 2 years (BLS: CPR & AED).

startingoveragain,

I have a previous degree with a low overall gpa. 2 something I think. (It took me a while to get my act together) However, my prerequisite GPA is pretty high. Depending on which math class was used, I either have all A's or all A's and one B. with a 3.8 prereq gpa you should be accepted. I don't trust the people at the desk either. You should read the handbook (available online).
