Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
Eyoung, as soon as i get back from Spring Break, i will definitely going for that APPEAL process. No one knows for sure if they're making mistake or not. All they said in that letter, based on your GPA, you're being selected as an Alternate. I'd be happy if they had said, " based on your 3.57 GPA, you're being selected as an Alternate" They didn't even mentioned GPA. Last Fall 2010, and Spring 2011, those who had a 3.40 and 3.42 still made it to the program. Besides, we're not that far away from those students who have a 3.71, it's only 0.14 and please keep your hope high!!!1 week, after i turned my Nursing application back in January, i received a phone from HCC Health Sciences Department, there's a lady, she told me, she couldn't find my money order. I replied to her, i put my money order on the very first page, 5 minutes later, she called me back and said to me they have found it!!!
I was wondering if you are accepting and appealing? I sent in the acceptance of my alternate seat this morning and I think I will also appeal... the squeaky wheel gets the oil, right? :) I hope doing both is allowed! I still have hope... With the alternate letters, they really SHOULD have included what they calculated as our GPAs. I can see why they didn't with the acceptance letters, but not with us! I just wish someone would look at our files for us, so we don't have go through with an appeal if it isn't necessary!
Thank you. I actually went up there this morning and they couldn't give me any information. I told her I'd drive to Dale Mabry campus if I had to for help. I emailed MG back and called her extension & got her secretary. She says that she mailed me a new letter today but if the first one doesn't come today then to email her back and she will print a new one and allow me to drive to the Dale Mabry campus tomorrow and pick it up. Also, they said that the date of April 1st to claim your seat is an error that it's April 12th. Seems like our nursing letters are filled with errors...
thanks for sharing that key info! did she say whether they would be sending an email about that typo for the 12th?
eyoung & clemso, with all the errors i would definitely appeal. 3.57 strikes me as too high to be given alt seats, esp considering that on past semesters the floor was estimated at 3.23 - 3.44 GPA!

Thank you for the encouragement Markeyg! I think a 3.57 is a little high to be the cut off too, so hopefully it's a 3.56. :) I'm going for the appeal, but as I've said before, everything works out for the best. Maybe MTI is where I'm supposed to be. I like the idea of saving two hours of drive time that could otherwise be sent with my little one. :) He's growing up so fast and I hate missing out on time that could be spent with him.
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH....Still no letter today!!! Guess I'm heading to Tampa to see MG and request a copy of it. This situation has really made me regret my choice of college!!!!!!
Oh my gosh!!! That really stinks!!! Can you head over there today? They close at noon tomorrow, so you'll have to get there early. How frustrating. HOWEVER, you know you're in like flin, so don't worry. :)
mg replied back about the orientation dates, here's her email:there were some scheduling changes. the orientation will be held tuesday june 21 and wednesday june 22. an email will be sent out to all admitted students.
ughh....i went by the admissions office today to drop off my acceptance letter and check. i asked about the orientation dates. i was told that the dates should be that thursday and friday (june 23rd and june 24th). i asked if she was sure. she replied, "i've asked my supervisor three times today!" she did confirm that they would be sending out an email to everyone with the correct dates. i guess we'll just have to wait for the email. i really wish they were more organized.

I actually e-mail R.S., the Program Manager for the Nursing Program about the orientation dates in the letter and here was her reply:
"The letters go out from Admissions. They get the dates from me, but they prepare the letters. Actually, we have had to make a slight change anyway. Orientation is now Tues 6/21 and Weds. 6/22. I will let them know about the mismatched dates."
R.S. was in charge of the orientation last Fall and the program, which is why I e-mailed her regarding orientation.......
I am an alternate w/ a 3.57 as well and know one other w/ a 3.57 that has to be the cut off point I wish we knew how many alternates there are?
Although I can't swear to it, I believe I heard during the orientation that I attended for the Spring term that there were about 12 to 15 alternates for the Spring 2011 term and I thought they were all admitted.
