Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
I was selected as an Alternate, just like you Clemso. I'm going to accept it, but also apply at MTI. If I'm not given an alternate seat, I'll start at MTI in the fall. I can't believe that a 3.57 wasn't a shoe-in!
I don't plan on applying at HCC again. This wait was miserable!
Congrats again to all of you who have received a confirmed seat in the program!!
Congratulations Shamanai!! Eyoung, good luck with the wait list. I hope it works out for you. (you too Clemso) Mrsgood, I'd get on the phone with the admissions office first thing in the morning. Congratulations to everyone who got in and good luck to everyone!! I can't wait to meet everyone at plant city!
A friend of mine always applied to HCC Nursing program with a 3.14 GPA started back in 2009 up to now. He always offer an alternate seat, then later denied. This time HCC didn't even offer him an Alternate seat and they just gave him a denied letter...Things really tough this Fall 2011, if you have at least a 3. 57 GPA. Don't lose hope and don't discourage!!
I was wondering if it is possible to accept that Alternate seat and then go for that Appeal process?
Clemso, did you ever get an answer to your appeal question? After reading my lovely alternate letter, I was wondering the same thing. Unfortunately, I think that too many people have applied from all over. I mean, who knows how many applications they received. I'm an hour away, and I'm sure there are many more who are further away than that. Ugh.
I think it will be funny if I get accepted to SCF with a 3.71 (their prereqs are different), even though they accept fewer students and the GPA cut off is usually around a 3.8.
Until I hear something from HCC or I happen to get in to SCF, I'm just going to plan on attending MTI. Either way, I will be an RN in the next few years! :)

Thank you. I actually went up there this morning and they couldn't give me any information. I told her I'd drive to Dale Mabry campus if I had to for help. I emailed MG back and called her extension & got her secretary. She says that she mailed me a new letter today but if the first one doesn't come today then to email her back and she will print a new one and allow me to drive to the Dale Mabry campus tomorrow and pick it up. Also, they said that the date of April 1st to claim your seat is an error that it's April 12th. Seems like our nursing letters are filled with errors...

Eyoung, as soon as i get back from Spring Break, i will definitely going for that APPEAL process. No one knows for sure if they're making mistake or not. All they said in that letter, based on your GPA, you're being selected as an Alternate. I'd be happy if they had said, " based on your 3.57 GPA, you're being selected as an Alternate" They didn't even mentioned GPA. Last Fall 2010, and Spring 2011, those who had a 3.40 and 3.42 still made it to the program. Besides, we're not that far away from those students who have a 3.71, it's only 0.14 and please keep your hope high!!!
1 week, after i turned my Nursing application back in January, i received a phone from HCC Health Sciences Department, there's a lady, she told me, she couldn't find my money order. I replied to her, i put my money order on the very first page, 5 minutes later, she called me back and said to me they have found it!!!

I agree I'd appeal too especially since they didn't include what the gpa was or what your calculated gpa was!!! IDK and yea I was saying we have a short period to accept nice to hear its the 12th but i think the 1st would've been better. That way anyone who is an alternate can get their letter much sooner.
