Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.
I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?
What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?
With a 3.57 GPA, I couldn't believe it, i thought i was safe, i was ONLY offer an alternate seat at HCC. I got A on all the Nursing Prerequisite classes, EXCEPT Anatomy & Phy II Lecture got a B and Sociology got a C.
ENC 1101 = A
MAC 1105 = A
Anatomy & Physiology I = A
Anatomy & physiology and Laboratory I =A
Microbiology Lect = A
Microbiology Lab =A
Anatomy & Phy lecture II = B
Anatomy & phy Laboratory II=A
Sociology = C
Isn't that a 3.57 over 4.00 GPA? I'm thinking to file for an APPEAL, not accepting an alternate seat.
Is anyone knows for this fall 2011, what is the cutoff GPA's?

That's a 3.57. That's what I have... Great. I wonder if there were just higher grades turned in this semester. Did they not include what THEY calculated as your GPA? I honestly figured anything over a 3.5 was in... But who knows. That's INSANE.
YouWow Clemso, I'm really surprised that you were only offered an alternate slot. I checked your math and you do have an accurate gpa.you have to be really close to the cut off point. I wish you the best of luck.
as for me im not even going to open the letter when I get home today bc if someone with a 3.5ish got an alternate then me with a 3.33 will def. not get in.... blah !

For those of you that got an alternate seat, I would accept it. I think almost everyone with an alternate seat got in for the Spring term because you have people deciding not to accept, even at the last minute, for various reasons.

Based on your GPA, you have been selected as an Alternate. If accepted into this program, you will be contacted by letter sent to the address on the Health Sciences application. The last paragraph " if you believe there has been an error on our part, you may appeal committee's decision. Plus they include two different pages that i need to turn in before April 1, 2011. First page, i need to put an X if
------------I accept an alternate seat
or put an X --------------- i decline an alternate seat.
Second page shows the process need to be follow for an appeal. Last fall 2010 and Spring 2011, the cutoff GPA was 3.40 and 3.42. I'm thinking to ask the Health Sciences Department, what was the minimum GPA or the cutoff GPA. I don't think the cutoff GPA this time is higher than 3.57

CONGRATULATIONS P!!!! Awesome GPA!!! I hope to join you in the fall at HCC. :) I'm expecting to receive a letter about an alternate seat, so hopefully I'll still get in.
I emailed MG asking if she could share what the cut off GPA was and this was her response:
"At this time we do not have a cut off gpa as this is the initial selection. There are approximately 145 seats available so after the appeals process is complete we will then be able to confirm the lowest gpa accepted.
